Help! The Rickshaw drive, dt 02.02.2015. A short story based on true event.

Help! The Rickshaw Drive.  Dt 02.02.2015.
(A Hati series story, true event)
Akshaya!  His sudden arrival at my place surprised me. We were meeting after 24 years.  Tata`s smile train brought him here to a special reconstructive surgery drive for children with cleft lips and cleft palates. He got a happy break.Where is Dr Hati. He wanted Hati the inflated elephant to examine the latter’s communist views vs his own contrasting ideology.
Hati reached with his customary laughter, ha ha ha, oh! Akshaya the capitalist, wonderful! They embraced each other.
Akshaya teased Dr Hati's communist views and chided, “Gone with Gorbachev.”
Ha ha ha Aks, communism is a perception not a political party, it can never die, just like your feeling towards an old man without a blanket in winter will never be different than me even if you are the capitalist.
That is not enough bro; tell what the perception is and who perceived it, a failure or a success, said Aks.
I instantly guessed a story was coming. Yes.
You do not know Aks, Senapati knows, Hati looked at me for approval.
Yes, I nodded.
Your classmate Nalini Pati and Senapati`s classmate Santosh Dora all knew it, a real event in late eighties of last century during medical college days.
Hati narrated….
He was in second year medicos when the first installment of his study loan of two thousand and four hundred came as he was preparing for his university exam. He had all books by that time. No scope to spend in merrymaking, cinema, food or dresses. He remembered a friend in primary school, Muna the one who on those days was pulling cycle rickshaw in capital city of Bhubaneswar. A few days back both shared seats in shuttle train. Muna pulled a rented out vehicle at the rate of thirty rupees per one shift, out of its two such. The owner earned sixty in a day, not a bad business for such a small investment.
He called Muna and discussed with him.
The idea was, Hati purchased the rickshaw. Muna was to repay nine hundred a month till he repaid the whole amount within three months. Hati got back his money and his friend became the owner of a rickshaw. He worked for a shift to gain his livelihood and rented out the cycle for another shift to save for future.
Muna became too touched and told how his father worked as an agricultural laborer for Hati`s father and grandfather. He did not agree to work at Cuttack as he was committed to the parents of school children at school time for a year. Moreover he told he had many known regular customers.
Hati was convinced, for any profession the customers are the main capital.
Within the same day the rickshaw was purchased that came just within two thousand two hundred.
Hati became very happy. What was the fun to stack money? He would get back his money within three months and his friend became owner of his own business. He imagined a day may come when he can help his friend an auto rickshaw.
Muna moved to Bhubaneswar with the cycle Hati prepared for examination.

After his examination,in the summer vacation he went home.
None of his family members knew the matter. By that time four to five months passed, Muna was never seen. Hati went once to meet him in Bhubaneswar at the backside square of Rabindra Mandap. It was just after finishing a theory paper when all his friends went for a movie.
Hati discovered Muna after some effort. He behaved as a good host, brought a plate of cheese well sprayed with the tasty rabidi. He presented himself in a very difficult situation. He remained ill for about a month, his father then suffered from tuberculosis.
The later information was a fact as his father once came to Cuttack for consultation in TB department.
He had to spend a lot, to send more money to his parents.
Hati was easily convinced and man always believed the next day would be brighter.
He came back.
During the vacation he went to Muna`s house to meet his father. He was too depressed. He blamed Hati for his difficulties. His son was not coming home, was not sending any money even did not tell him that Hati was not paid a single pie. Muna told his father that Hati was being repaid at an enhanced rate so he was not able to send any money to him. His father was a simple illiterate man did not know how many days it took to repay a loan of a rickshaw at an enhanced rate. Hati felt very sorry for Muna`s father the man who worked for a very long time for Hati`s family. The neighbors confirmed the pitiable condition of him. There was news to them Muna had become too irresponsible, not coming home, remaining drowned in alcohol and so on.

Hati dedicated his feelings to Karl Marx whom he never read but always felt he was a Marxist. He cursed himself. Felt there was no difference between the understanding of Muna`s father and he himself, both could be easily bluffed.

Raja the festival of monsoon arrived at mid June, this created a little longing in Muna`s mind to come to village when he was asked face to face in presence of his father and some neighbors. Muna had no words.

In the evening he was found drunk in the village. In those days to find someone drunk in a village was big news. The whole of the village discussed it and Hati`s parents and elders were in fire to find the stupidity of their chap, self proclaimed Marxist.

The next day Muna in normal mind prayed one more chance and promised to repay within next three months.

As it was, so it remained, Muna hided himself if he was searched at Bhubaneswar. He never came back to village. His father was betrayed not financially but to his loyalty to a particular family.

Hati lost a friend and an old man lost his son. What a help? A new word was invented mishelp. He mishelped an youngman.

Hati one day went to Rabindra Mandap where he could not recognize the rickshaw, he discussed with many other rickshaw pullers. They could identify the cycle, told that Muna comes at about nine thirty pm and goes to an infamous sahi where he gets good business. He had mortgaged the rickshaw to a pimp for some money and now worked for him as a bonded man. They also warned it was too dangerous for Hati if he wanted a recovery. They suggested Hati to return before the news was learnt by the pimp.

Hati lifted the cushioned seat to discover several empty small bottles of whisky a particular brand. Muna had developed brand preference too.

Hati once more uttered in silence comrades red salute.

He discussed the matter with Kishore his younger brother who by nature was ready to take any challenge.

Both of them went to Rabindra Mandap backside square in the evening and waited there. Muna was seen at about ten pm. Just when he unlocked the cycle he was asked to drive to Cuttack. He was taken aback to find his friend and the younger brother. He pretended to be unwell and not in a condition to drive twenty five kilometers. But the duo was too adamant. There was no mobile phone on those days and he could not call the pimp or maybe he still had the humanity intact or the feeling towards fellow villagers, or he still remembered it was Hati`s property. No one came to his aid. His only plea was he was sick. Hati told him not to  worry he would be helped by himself. Muna knew Hati can ride rickshaw, had seen him so in village .

Soon they were on the national high way to bring back the property.

Hati had to drive more than fifty percent of the roads including some portions of Cuttack, of course it was too early to be noticed by anyone.

It was dumped at new gent’s hostel to end the first part of the statement, “Communism is a perception not a political party.”

It was too disheartening to dump the rickshaw not knowing what to do next. More awkward was to answer any related question by anyone.

A duplicate cash memo was procured from its store at Tinikonia Bagicha. A rickshaw for a medical student was just like castor oil on the wools of a sheep. Nothing could be planned till another rickshaw puller from Hati`s village who also worked at Bhubaneswar was approached. He priced it to be twelve hundred rupees and promised to give it in installment to Hati`s father at village.

All the pictures were not gloomy, this man paid as per his promise, an escape of Hati`s communism. He learnt a lesson @ a thousand rupees when a house surgeon`s monthly salary was only six hundred.

Of course he could never forget the unique experience of driving a rickshaw for more than twelve kilometers.

The only good news here is that Muna now a days is seen in the village may be with a little drinks he affords he is very happy, neither Hati nor Muna feel sorry to discuss the matter when they meet. The perception is there not the politics. Aks listened to it as did Senapati.

(Dedicated to my two roommates Dr Nalini Pati now in Australia, Dr Santosh Dora now runs twenty one kilometers at a stretch in Mumbai marathon works as a proud colleague of Padmashree Ramakanta Panda at Asian hearts both of whom also suffered for my many absurdity and Dr Akshaya Rout my friend a plastic surgeon who asked the original question, with love to all)

Non fiction story...Truth, Plural truth.....

Truth! Can it be one and with no plurality?
She consented for MLC examination is ok if she declined can one force her?

We all are told’ speak truth, let truth prevails. There is only one truth. Truth cannot be diluted, if attempted it turns false, loses its purity. Half truth is worse than a lie. We at once believe it but a time comes we need a deeper understanding.

Sri Manoj Das discussed it in his literature and speeches which I may put here before proceeding further discussion.

A bandit ran after a rich businessman with treasury. The man to save his life entered the hut of a pious hermit and hided there, prayed asylum thinking it the safest option. After some minutes the bandit entered, enquired about the man. The noble who never told a lie in his life informed correctly and the man was killed.

Is it truth in proper spirit? A lie verses a life, a noble`s loyalty to truthfulness against a required common sense as the hour’s demand.

Here is a real situation, my own recent experience.

A girl of twelve years as recorded in school, whose actual age may be thirteen or fourteen and a boy may be eighteen year old were produced in our Community Health Center for medico legal examination in connection to kidnapping, rape, trespassing Protection Of Child Sexual Offence act 2012 (post Nirvaya act). They were from the most advanced amongst tribes of Odisha. The girl was to be examined by me the gynaecologist and the boy by my senior colleague a man of the same tribe. Here to mention they were tribal has a reason as there was some language problem between me and them that was not with the other doctor. The girl reads in class six, understood my questions, and answered perfectly. Her mother also communicated well. My problem was the communication in between the two of them that I could not follow.

The story given by police was that the boy kidnapped the girl, kept her in a relation`s house at distant place and was having sexual relation with her. Consensual or non consensual does not matter as she was only twelve years old hence it legally was a case of kidnapping, unlawful captivation and rape. The police rescued her from the place.

When I asked the mother she also opined similarly. The girl`s statement was just the opposite. She told that her father never allowed to move anywhere to see the better world. She moved with this boy well known to her family and visited a mela. Thereafter they stayed in his relation`s house for three days. She told the boy never did anything to her. She told it meaningfully. She behaved as an intelligent girl. Here I was not doing a writer`s job, it was a mandatory formality to write what the victim stated to the doctor. As she appeared tobe and police stated her as a minor the mother`s statement was important. Age estimation by me as a medical man would start only after the consent of the victim and her mother.

I was too confused. The minor girl the mini woman said she was fine. Can anybody force her to be examined? The guardian who was the real person to give consent and knew her child`s well being wanted justice. The mother even told me to consult my colleague to know the boy`s statement. Although it was not mandatory I could not resist the idea.

My colleague told the boy stated he loved the girl for last four months and had taken her with her will. He was having consensual conjugal relation for last three days. He told what the truth was. The lady constable entered the scene and wanted to tell that her clothes had evidence. Only a day before the girl without any pressure told to the police that she of course with her own will was having relation with the boy in love. Our staff nurse as per rule was present and I requested the police as per rule to go out.

To give adequate justice to the situation I once again allowed the mother and daughter to discuss among them (Not understood by me) and tell me the right thing. They had some hot arguments that did not change the statement of anyone. So I had to decide.

When a minor suffers from an abscess she also never likes anyone to drain it to avoid the instant pain but the guardian gives the consent and for her betterment it is done with some persuasion and force. Was it a similar situation? Can any doctor that to a male force an adolescent girl to do the examinations very private in nature? It was ethically and practically not possible. Common sense speaks it should be considered as outraging the modesty of a little woman. Once again I counseled the girl that she should think twice and sign the consent paper so also her mother. She did not change her stand.

Mother was very upset.
There was no question to discuss with the girl`s father as he was reported drunk.
I also had little option left over. To avoid future turn around I told in raw language that the girl you  should write down what you tell and deny to be examined in writing. The girl was intelligent she wrote it in proper language with respectful addressing to the boy (as one addresses a husband) and signed it. The mother also witnessed the girl`s statement. Did I do the right thing to the best of my judgment? Did truth prevail?
Basing on a boy`s statement I had no chance to examine her. Who can say the boy did not lie to give bad name to the girl, to pressurize the parents to give her hand. Their custom I did not understand fully.
My question is was I truthful? What would happen to the boy who was examined and who states to do a crime? This crime cannot be punished as age estimation was a vital link here. A consensual relation is not a crime if the girl is major which in this case was not certain.

I state it as a crime as per existing law and as a social safeguard measure.

Why did the girl turn hostile against herself? Did she fear medical examination? Had it been different if I was a lady? Did the girl feel safer with the boy than in her house with drunken parents? Did she want to save an innocent boy?

Innocent criminal!!!

Ignorance is never a plea but here that was the main culprit. The adolescent behavior here was added to the fact that they did not know what law states about their legal age. Even if they know that this age is allowed or not, how can they count their age? It is true majority of those people look vacant when their age is asked. So who made them ignorant is the real criminal.

Who then?

I still have doubt. Was there any chance to examine her? Suppose it was done, suppose the boy was jailed, was it justice?

To that on a social and legal angle it was, but on personal angle the system did not allow some people to behave lawfully as it did not educate them. Still it is an open and valid question.
The debates done in television channels post Nirvaya were as usually inferior and only targeted people of higher or middle class. Not only in this issue but in all such issues the neglected group is always neglected. They are people of a different India, we talk only to prove we are logical speakers and that is all.

You see any serial or any soap or any debate in all the channels including the government programs the vast India is totally forgotten.

Truth may have several facets.

Three officers working in defense intelligence were captured by enemies and were tortured to the extreme degree. On a particular day they made it the final day and allowed them to speak the truth. All about their intelligence knowledge or else they would be fired. One of them with extreme torture succumbed but did not spill the bin. The second one now opened up and told the whole truth. The third one was a cunning fellow; he had the ability to make cream on the surface of water. He told opposite to the second one in convincing manner and wanted to give all supporting documents. They got biased; thought the second one was cheating them. He was fired. Later on the cunning man could manage an escape.

Who was truthful?

I put this question in a family circuit they had beautiful analysis.
Some felt the first one did the truthful act and was patriotically so. Rare was a vote for the second. Most told the third one did the right thing as per his job`s demand and also for him only the traitor second was punished who otherwise was harmful if alive. Because they were in intelligence they are expected to use their wit and cunningness.

Some pointed out it to be luck as who knew if the third one was asked first what his response was.
He was countered as a man of wit is always the winner, in such a situation he should have adopted a different method, he was fit for the job.

This is the abstract, the real discussion was long, I stopped my car at Panikoili on national high way to answer the situation and all discussion was over nothing left for analysis.

My point was they joined the job with the oath to do whatever is good for the nation and their very job to steal information of other country was untruthful but required for mother land. To be loyal and committed to your oath is the most truthful job and the one who did it was the most truthful.
But yes that can never be a final answer.

Suppose we analyze it neutrally, say one party was Iraq and other party as Iran our response would be different than if we take one as India and the other as Pakistan. Again in that context if we think the three were Pakistanis and Indians captured them our response would be different than if we take the opposite. Emotions can change our perception. This I state with love to Pakistan as I am in the rare group who feel a day will come when India, Pakistan, Bangladesh may join together on popular demand.

So truth looks with many faces and to know the real truth our present knowledge is inadequate. If I travel a greater depth I shall once again discuss the situation, till the bye bye.

Did you CK vai, PK the film.

My views on PK the film, dt.12.01.2015.
A big discussion went on in my friend circle on an Amir Khan Starrer film PK. Many suggested viewing the film.  A doctor friend Pigulu Mam and a young man from my village also Pigulu told, “You should see it”. Children told highly about the film. My brother in law the owner of color 7 and elder son in related career, usually bring the discussion of cinema to my house in routine. This time younger son positively compared it to OMG, wife wanted to see it but I hesitated. I was not seeing him the day he in a Satyamev Jayate episode whispered, “I shall think twice before entering to an Indian hospital”.  I was very sorry as an Indian doctor. Doctors and their associations rightfully have too many complaints those are not the topic of discussion.

There is progress in all fields including medicine. But society has deteriorated equally in all fields medical profession is one of it. Let us improve it.
Now coming to PK proper, how a particular film declared tax free in some states is unofficially banned in some other states by hooligans taking law into their own hand. What is praiseworthy by some is condemned by some is a reflection of a very bad society. Never had it happened in Indian cinema controversies. People intentionally keep some objectionable scenes or dialogues that create turbulence and publicity hand in hand after some settlement it runs with profit. There was no previous film that became tax free in the midst of demonstrations.

Let me share my views on the film.

1- I appreciate a book or a film if it drives me to know what happens next that to without skipping a single sentence or a single dialogue to the last page or last scene. On that account PK is good; I saw it in whole in attention trying to understand all conversations including the vojpuri told by Amir.

2- Alien is not a new theme not impossible as well and its possibility is explained in the film at the beginning. Here he comes nude with a communicative remote system that hangs as a locket that remains his only link with the several light years distant homeland which is instantly stolen by the evils of earth. What a crime against an intelligent baby who has no sense to feel the need to cover up himself. With not a single dress also he does not look nude as a horse or a moving bull never looks odd. The theft at the beginning also says this alien is going to witness negative happenings so seeing fraud God man and not seeing a sage goes well with the film.

3- A nude alien looks less nude than the inappropriate dress of the heroine, her costumes and contemporary costumes of a lady media professional in our country does not match. It looks abnormal. The scene of intake of alcohol by the heroine in presence of the alien also looks intentional negative feminism. It looks like a formula.

4- The presentation of same word with different meaning and same action with different meaning and the confusion in a pluralistic society was amusing.

5- His association with a good Sanjay Dutta and the way of learning Vojpuri  was a formula sure but was entertaining.

6- The rocking car that provided him a dress for the first time looked funny but to repeat the scene several time looked too ridiculous with poverty of ideas and vulgar. It made the film too ordinary unlike a real Amir.

7- The condom advertisement by NACO and the too sensual advertisement of Mankind`s condom have decreased a reaction to its discussion in public and the innocent alien witnessing the funny happenings around condom did not look odd. The discussion with media boss about it did not look abnormal too. But the reaction of the heroine ie enjoying the fun looked unreal stating it never can be.  The boss agreed to give permission to the heroine`s proposal to make alien a story made her to hug the boss. If such hugging happens in any Indian office then the male would be dragged to the court. So a footnote was needed,”Don`t do it in your office this is only possible by professional Jatra actors.”

8- Coming to the different religious groups the movie criticized all community alike and this being the central theme should not be criticized. This also is the true reflection of the present status of religion. That should be accepted as the society should be cautious. But …. See below.

9- The Tapaswi is presented as a very cunning person with politically correct words. Without any sufficient reason he suddenly assumes Alien is a Muslim and states very poorly about Muslim religion as attackers. This never suited Tapaswi`s tongue. It seemed intentional to invite criticism and with an aim for poor publicity. In real poorer dialogues with much hatred is thrown by shadow politicians in public but it was not going with the character of that Tapaswi.

10- The film made all religion look poor but Hinduism to a greater extent; I did not dislike it as the caretakers of religion really have made the religious practice like that. Frauds are a plenty. This again being the central theme of the film we the believers should take it as a reformatory reminder and hail the team. Sure he must be aware that the reaction to the film happening now was expected to happen. It seems he made it so to depend on controversy for its publicity. Amir himself is publicity and he needs not be so insecure.

11- The love story with a Pakistani Muslim, the artificial break up and the dramatized reunion was as if he wanted a sticker on the lips of propagators of Love Jihadies. To many people it must have looked unreal but as it takes the dependency on the theme love it felt nice. Love can do anything and everything. But to say the Pakistani embassy has no work except uniting lovers is double extra ordinary.(view of a reader whose name is K only). Love Jihadi propagators are with arms again must have been well expected by the team and this risk was calculated.

12- Heroine bribed the police to spend some time with PK in the lock up also looked too ordinary for Amir`s film. It had no fun neither to police nor to public.

13- It is well understood a section of people are not happy and they really want this type of issues to sale themselves. So this mutual publicity of the film and these organizations must be ignored. This was possible communities of different religions should have joined hand to give a statement of displeasure against the film peacefully. That would have been accepted as we are in a democracy. The Censor Board has passed it as U/A looks justified and no one should be allowed to take law into own hand as this breeds terrorism. Terrorism should be dealt with zero tolerance. Pakistan differentiates good terrorism and bad terrorism and the result is so damaging, India must learn it. To be soft against is vote bank favoritism.

14- What for two governments made it tax free? The wise governments better know it. I think this happened first time that a U/A film is made tax free. I do not feel any reason for it except behaving left pole (?left?right pole? Does not exist) doing opposite of right pole. I feel the film has controversial elements and not eligible to be tax free. I only think people may view it learn from it and like it and dislike it in free mind. May be these govts made it tax free as it advertises condom or they suddenly felt money is better utilized by private use than corrupt use by their own governments.

15- Comparing OMG, this film gives a logical ending that goes with the film. In OMG bringing Akshaya  Kumar as God and giving lessons to Paresh Rawal looked too unrealistic and with the only purpose to pacify believers otherwise that movie I felt more delicately more intensely presented itself than PK. I loved that movie more than this PK except its better ending.

16- Time is a significant element.  Now we are in a time when Mohtma Gandhi is remembered to clean the Aswachhata of the country an Amir joined hands to make people aware to another dimension of Aswachhata that is equally detrimental. I even if am a strong believer do subscribe the central theme of the film, my criticism should be read as a common viewer`s study of the film who is professionally not linked to cinema or media. All my criticism is based on comparison with his high standard of earlier films.

17- If good time ever comes I invite PK to come again meet sages existing in Himalayas, meet still existing Buddhas , Jesus , Prophet, Mahaveers, Shankaracharya and plenty many touchy human beings and take the better message to his planet but I thank him this time to remind me as an inhabitant of green earth as a believer where I stand. You did it with a three star standard against the five star standards of you.                                                                                                            THANK YOU PK.

Bro Na a short story, dt.02.01.2015 - dt.10.01.2015, dedicated condemning terrorism in France.

Bro Na   dt.02.01.2015.- dt.10.01.2015, a short story.

His cell rang. The specially arranged system of latest and costliest technology to meet his professional demand where the invisible ear aid rings with no noise to outside and with selected ring tones for each of the only four persons who can call by that number. Bishnusahasranama for the president, Allah ho Akabar Allah for the chief of national defense, Moolamantra for his boss the chief of the national intelligence Mr Srivastab and Gayatri mantra for Bro Na the national premier. He was Mr Swain second to Srivastab in the national intelligence. These names Srivastab and Swain were not real names but only to stay for a year or two when a next name is chosen. Srivastab joined only a few months ago specially selected by Bro Na after he came to power, nobody knew from where he came and how Bro Na brought him. Mr Swain could sense the senior man was too intelligent and quite competent to handle the post, he felt lucky to be his deputy and a lot of improvement in national intelligence happened within months. Srivastab was so fast and so competent he found his own way to tap top conversation in the intelligence wings of Pakistan, China, USA, Russia, and Great Britain. To know the conversation of top terrorist groups was his left handed easy play. He was too quick in deciphering the secret code word conversations. He earned Mr Swain`s respect and love, and the initial frowning of the out of the way appointment of Srivastab by his highness Bro Na later turned to his delight.
Stone inscription by Ashoka at Dhauli, Odisha.

But it was Gayatrichant and he exclaimed. At these odd hours of 2 AM in the morning when Swain was about to go to the bed a direct call from Bro Na made him too thoughtful. Was it a by chance call! No never possible a call to this number takes seven steps and here security sense supersedes speed. He had no time to think much but to pick up. Come immediately to my residence alone by own drive for a discussion was the order. He recognized the voice and it was a normal none emotional grave tone of the premier Bro Na and Swain had no doubt.

He came out. The Capital already retired, traffic was too thin but he took no chance, he came out of the garage with his soundless non branded car took the secret route to the secret garage where he found his never on road car with a civilian look and ordinary number plate, his monkey cap matched the chill breeze, opened driver side window of the non A/C vehicle and moved out of the back gate that opened with his remote and closed again. His long khaki overcoat made his look common and he was in communication to Bro Na just stating the number of the vehicle.

Within twenty minutes he entered his highness Bro Na`s drawing room as all arrangements were made by him for this secret mission. All the previous premiers have called him several times during their tenure but Bro Na never did so, Swain was with the impression that Srivastab is his only trusted man.

His highness got the popular name Bro Na in last general election as people everywhere were with the chorus Bro Na Bro Na Bro Na Bro Na that came from the ceremony when he was declared as the Premier candidate of the Nationalist party by none other than the ideological guru of the party referring him as the Brother of the Nation in short Bro Na. The chorus made a wave and his real name Damodar Vai Sharma went to hibernation which became a signature only. The chorus made a wave, the wave that became a dream of millions of youth that echoed in Himalayas, in Arabian Sea, in Bay of Bengal, Badrinath to Rameswaram and from Somanath to Kamakshyadevi.. The nation got a big brother, with the clicking formula devised by the same people who condemned such names like Bapuji, Chachaji, Guruji , Mataji, Mera beta, Damatji etc. Only one name mesmerized people Brother of the Nation Bro Na. He became a phenomenon, his incomparable energy and stamina people liked. He talked about wholesome development.

Corporate houses, Media groups backed him, the nation witnessed never seen before expenses and wooing machines in general election. He had merit; these people sensed it and secured their future by opening their treasuries. The modern day winning ability the paying and bribing ability was never under estimated by Bro Na. He was in no mood to take a slight risk. Other means like polarizing speeches were strategically thrown by selected people who are too experienced to spit hate and to lick it under the instructive dislike of Bro Na, in the process making the society to break to pieces and the biggest piece was the targeted harvest. Who chanted Bro Na, Bro Na. The wave of chant crossed the boundary of the nation, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Srilanka, the European union, Australia, African countries, Brazil , and the big brother of new world order USA all noted it. Russia no one bothered to remember the trusted old friend.

He replied the chant, Bro Na, Bro Na with authoritative smile, “I am not brother you all are members of national brotherhood irrespective of sex and age. It is collective, nation cannot be built without cohesive effort, I am not Bro Na everyone is a brother, chant with me every one Is Bro Na, Har Har Bro Na.” This delighted all they chanted with beating of Dambaru and raising of Trishul, Har Har Bro Na, Har Har Bro Na.  As they were chanting  the central think tank was devising new divisive formula of hate, the social media was flooded with hate philosophy the Mohatma, the ironman, the Pandit, the killer the Leader, the ghosts the statues , the mother cow, the water of Ganges, the Tilak, the Skull cap all and sparing none were painted with hate.

Revolutions are never propelled by love, hate only fuels revolution became a philosophy. Mohatma did revolution with love was the biggest lie they told, he was a big zero and fraud, only the fore fathers of their think tank and Mr Jinnah did the revolution. Some did not like it. Who cares! In a democracy majority is meaningful, some is irrelevant, and who cares let the some follow the many, the some the minority should fall in line, Polarization to the ultimate maximum.

He became the premier. The debate became who own it? His persona or the think tank or the negative wave against the previous regime, it was nonsense debate he told the collective brotherhood is required to build a nation, he told it as a son of the soil on his own land, repeated it at the bank of the great river. A win is a responsibility and humble scope to serve. To run a government majority is required but to run the nation all are required the one who drags a hand cart is as important as the one who builds the costliest building in the world. The opposing minded people including Mr Swain hailed his new Avatar of real Bro Na.

Change of approach towards the person in the chair is the flexible requirement of all government servants, especially those who are in high security jobs like national intelligence. With initial hiccup Swain liked Bro Na`s decision to bring Srivastab from nowhere to the chair of his boss, the chief of national intelligence.

I understand your difficulties Mr Swain to call you at this hour he told as his orderly offered the aroma of a cup of tea. He continued. The topic of discussion started with the same day`s presentation by Srivastab on the current status of national intelligence and pointing the weeds of the nation and their international link. It was an airproof discussion where the chief of defense, the premier, Srivastab and Swain participated. It was thorough and complete but in less than twelve hours this secret meeting made Swain thoughtful as he went inside the space station like sophisticated chamber with the national computer. The screen was already on with the same presentation, it amazed him. So complicated things how a non technical man handles with the state of the art probably the best in the world super computer with so ease that to within a short interval. He had daylong busy schedule. Swain guessed Bro Na did not take rest to know the details of the present situation. He got elated thinking the midnight oil he and Srivastab burnt did not go in vain. Is Bro Na happy?

He had no remote, Swain could not find any assistant in disguise but swiftly Bro Na took him to the page he wanted to show. His entire intelligence carrier looked like a joker`s stuff to himself.

Now his highness Bro Na pointed a name Khosgi who supplies all modern weapons and terror logistics to all the groups of the warring outfits in the entire world. The list stated 108 groups relevant to the national security. Srivastab had given the entire list with detailed elaboration out of which 13 are from the country itself. That is not the problem. Problem is the super computer said there is deletion of names as the number 108 was blinking saying recent change within 24 hours. The list of outfits also blinked and further stated deletion within 24 hours so also the number 13 was doing. That automatically derives the change was done in the previous night. Mr Swain was mesmerized by the technology, how a computer can state like this. He was sure the machine told correctly as he remembered the list was 110. He cannot tell correctly which two names are deleted without going to detail. He knew the figure 13 was wrong as it was 15 only. So it is blinking too. That again concludes two deletions are outfits of own nation.

Anyone did it for what reason, fear or favoritism or unseen instructions?  His intelligence forced him to peep at the nation`s list. Mujahidin, D company, ULFA, SIMI, Bodo ultras and so on all fundamental groups except two. Now Swain knew the reason behind, it was instructive favoritism may be with a purpose of not displeasing Bro Na who was generally accepted to subscribe the hate and extreme views of these two groups. But Swain again thought can it please any premier in the entire world to be presented with a tampered document of such high magnitude of national importance. Yes he was correct his sixth sense told him. Probably Bro Na is thinking in the exact way. To get a majority and form a government is different but to run the nation is such a sacred responsibility, the touch of the chair the sound of the Oath must have echoed inside of his sensitive emotional persona that he preserves in the steel container. A fraud can never be such an extempore orator, a thinking man, Swain felt ashamed of the present situation. Even if he found out the names how he can reveal without documentary evidence. He kept himself mum.

He was astonished how it was possible as without his help Srivastab cannot enter the strong room neither he can enter alone as two password twenty finger prints are required to open the strong room the ultimate secret store of the finalized document. Bro Na the great has detected it meant he must be sensing either the culprit is Swain or Srivastab . Swain got confused he was summoned as an accused or as an investigator. Is the National intelligence hacked and a third party had done it? That was not possible as they stored it offline. Puzzle grew too quick and too big. He could not believe Bro Na`s own choicest man Srivastab who was already in Swain`s high esteem did it. He started his migraine and knew he would be in unbearable discomfort too soon.

If Srivastab did it what was his evil intention. Then he may be too dangerous and may put Swain in the dock.

He badly wanted to prepare a new document with the two names deleted. But how?  He had no copy of the classified document as per the protocol. Who would believe the two names he suggests are correct? Now the headache was too intense.

Bro Na told, “Now go and take rest, restart the entire process single handed and present me”. Swain was not happy. He for a moment felt the whole work he did of course with Srivastab`s guidance turned such a fraud. May be Bro Na already discussed it with Srivastab and advised him identical sermons. Can the national intelligence run in this manner? He controlled his thought; it was now an unavoidable challenge of make or break, his headache further increased.

The strange feeling to see the auto control of the super computer by Bro Na was no more in Swain`s mind neither he paid any attention to the terrible head ache. The day`s jubilation turned to a nightmare although he did not go to bed till now. He feared his untraceable vehicle may be spotted by satellite, maybe all his systems including his brain were hacked, and luckily he saw the anti GPRS jammer is working.

He knew nothing can be done as he followed the protocol and deleted all related files in any domain accessible to him. He opened the shower, it had some soothing effect. The first crow was crowing as he went to bed.

The next two days were holidays no emergency came to disturb Swain. His disturbances was internal, he was helpless and finally took a decision to keep his side straight forward, “These are the two names deleted with his no knowledge how it happened.” That`s all. Yes what happens thereafter he does not care? He did not gather interest to call Srivastab neither a call was received from his side.

It was Monday and they were in meeting again, it was a scheduled meeting to plan out to combat the situation so there appeared no sense of emergency. The chief of the defense, Srivastab and Swain preferred silence as they waited the premier. Bro Na entered the room with a smile.

He opened the discussion but out of agenda and started with his annoyance on Swain as he accused the deputy tampered the document, so wanted to know the missing portions not specifying anything. Swain kept his silence. How the high level accusation was thrown by the premier whom he thought intelligent two days back which was so wrong? The defense man could not get anything and looked at Swain with a demanding glance. Srivastab could not hide his pleasing gesture with a tinge of relief.

Swain forgot his resolution to open the truth claiming his own innocence rather remained silent. He was not prepared for such an allegation. A few minutes passed, unimaginable in such a high level meeting. Swain did not utter anything, all looked tense. The situation grew tense. Treason! Come on hang me for no fault was the call of his soul.

Bro Na looked at Srivastab with utmost annoyance with a suggestion to describe Swain`s crime. Srivastab started with displeasure over the matter, he told, he felt sorry that he kept the presentation with Mr Swain at the finish with faith but that was only for an hour. It was also unfortunate that during presentation details were not discussed. He felt further sorry that Swain deleted the two outfits those are too big he uttered the names as well, concluded condemning the disgraceful act of Mr Swain.

Bro Na smiled now; Srivastabji Newton would salute your intelligence. He told the funny thing how Newton ordered his carpenter to make three different holes on a wooden door for thorough passage of his three cats of different size, small medium and large to avoid repeated disturbances to open and close the door for the naughty pets. He paid the carpenter beforehand his wages to make three holes. The carpenter without arguing did one big hole through which all three entered and came out to the smile of Newton`s idiocy. Srivastabji how could you know what exactly was the mistake without marking it two days before it was with no one else other than the premier. You obviously knew it before hand tactfully did not touch it during presentation. Your high intelligence failed and it was known to him Swain was innocent.

Srivastab had nothing to defend. He was instantly arrested and his trial was handed over to a Jet Court that gave its verdict within three days. Supreme court confirmed the punishment of life imprisonment against Government`s appeal to make it to his head.

Now Srivastab in the jail is given the work, “Operation DK”. The head of D company and Khosgi are to be punished by this land as was Mr Laden by USA.

All the units of the reported outfits including the two deleted organizations were taken care by national defense with a special order, five of the miscreant MPs of the nationalist party spreaders of hate are now in prison. Now he is a real national brother and he remains in the heart of every citizen of the most peaceful strong nation. Minority is chanting with equal passion with majority Har Har Bro Na, Har Har Bro Na. The world is listening and believes now he must work to make the whole world terror free.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

With love the writer wishes success in operation DK, up up Bro Na down down hatred and terrorism.

Dedicated to the recent tragedy in France that the writer condemns and demand justice to the entire humanity borderless.

Woman empowerment in my village Tulati in 1970s IN MY MEMOIR ANNYATHA MULYAHEENA (otherwise worthless)

ANYATHA MULLYAHEENA, CHAPTER 3—WOMAN EMPOWERMENT IN 1970S IN MY VILLAGE Tulati.
To the boy of 8/9(me) my village was the biggest and the best .The biggest (although only a medium size village of four wards only), just like the well to the resident frog is an ocean. Own village is the best to any child ,but neutrally speaking also my village was the nicest place in that era.
My village Tulati slept like my mother with head to the east comprising the village school since 1886 making literacy aplenty, and adjacent to it the abode of Lord Jagannath on the land of an Acharya Brahmin late Mr Ghana Acharya who went on uttering and blessing his son Adwaita Acharya (Jadanana) to be a KASHIPANDIT. It is history not a legend that even if the boy became an orphan, by GOD`S grace he became a true learned man from Kashi having a double master degree in Sanskrit and some other philosophical subject. Being taken care by Matama Janaki Dash, an agent sanyasini from Balaramkoth matha of Puri, followed by the patronage of the resourceful Mahanta (chief) of that matha. All the properties of Ghana Acharya belonged to Jagannath matha of our village . Later on Jadanana became Mohanta (chief) of Balaramkoth , he was the pride of the whole village till his death in 2007.So the head of my mother village TULATI was the center of learning and religious philosophy.
A father`s wish and repeated utterance although no one gave any importance as he was an obsessive type man ultimately came true, his son became learned Sri Ayodha Dash.
Baba Vishma Dash was in charge of the village Matha whom the villagers told a real Vishma, we children feared him.
The other institution grew to high school in 1975,But the boss of the school complex was the Head Pandit of primary school Sri Binod Bihari Mohanty, who looked alike, loved and feared alike as Late Mr Bal Thakre. (Will be a big chapter in my write up Annytha Mulyaheena).
Mata Janaki who once reared the sick ulcerated Jadanana, confirmed his treatment and remained motherly to him stayed in my village till another generation to enrich our childhood with love, affection. Till date I can see her doing an unique style of singing and dancing like a Kirtania in front of The Lord. Her Prasad was cherished by the children; we just went in when Baba was absent or in sleep.
My village was a nice place for this pious sanyasini to move towards salvation, which she must have attended, (She was the symbol of a powerful woman without a single controversy.)
A line of Krishnachuda (the tree uprooted in July 2014) Radhachuda and other flowering trees on the western fence of the twin institutions was like a necklace to my mother village and western to it was a huge pond that adored the shadow of the head as a locket when the sun rose in the east. The shadow changed to a glowing reflection in the afternoon to dusk when rays came from west.(Photograph can be seen in my another blog post Majestic pond Kastura.
The pond was the breast of my mother village that fed human, cattle, other animals and helped to do kitchen garden. (It had a natural maintenance system. Every year new monsoon water entered at the Northwest corner where the Chief mother deity Mangala blessed and protected the village and old water was drained at the Southeast. During our childhood the hygienic sense had already improved and no one drank raw pond water however it was used for boiling rice or dal for its better cooking quality. Now no body uses it for edible purpose and no one cares for maintaining its quality.
Nowhere had I seen a bigger village pond. The strongest and tallest youth could throw a pebble maximum up to 3 quarters of the water body. It had fourteen huge trees Aswastha, Banyan, Kadamba trees in combine around its bank in addition to the neckless mentioned above. Almost all trees had a name like pakatutha gachha, doli gachha, sudha baragachha, sudha aswastha gachha, mangala gachha, matha aswastha gachha, arasahi doli gachha and so on.
The pond had a name Kastura , legend says out of the seven sisters who dug one pond each in the area the eldest one Kasturi did the biggest pond in our village. There are named ponds in different villages giving the legend some legitimacy. How can any HE of my village give lesser grade to the fairer sex when he believes the grandiose pond is done by a woman?

This is only a portion of the chapter woman empowerment in my village, truly there was no discrimination and our sisters never felt they are inferior or weaker.

WHY SO MUCH ACTIVITY IN THIS YEAR, A DOCTOR WHO WRITES SAYS IT.

Goodbye 2014 , my yearbook.
I was in leave for the previous two months when the New Year arrived, at home busy in preparing for an entrance examination for higher study, January was time for last few laps as exam was in first week of February. In the previous year I was selected but it was at last moment when I could not have got the government permission in time. I was confident for this year. The main distraction was Aravind Kejriwala, Delhi election and my recurrent related communication with some friends. I was very happy as I read and revised Williams Obstetrics from which last year`s 100% questions was given. I finished from page 1 to the end; I was immensely satisfied as an Obstetricians working in a remote rural community health center would be doing this at the age of 47. Unfortunately pattern changed I did not qualify. So in one sense my three months leave did not yield, the level of frustration was too high.

Meanwhile during last part of previous year I once casually threw a small status update in face book with the title ‘Annyatha Mullyaheena’ in English that invited very sharp encouraging comments from some friends staying across the globe and also from my close relations. It was my childhood memoir.

I was and now also am very much uncomfortable writing in English as my educative background is my mother tongue Odiya and the level of English teaching in school was made intentionally low. One example is the rhyme Twinkle Twinkle that is for a preschool English medium child was given in our high school. English was made a single paper scraping the second paper. The second paper was how to write precise, narration, drafting all very useful for learners of a foreign language that we were deprived of.

As a student of Science and latter in medical science I always thought my English was poor and writing in English would never go with me. I still feel handicapped.
I always read My Droncharya Guru Sri Manoj Das and feel pride to tell I am Ekalavya to him. I till now have never seen him. Whenever I write an Odiya story I pick up a random story of him and read it then start writing even if the themes are miles apart and the quality can be his Akash to my desert land but who can stop any one in emulating someone. I had never read his English literature even if I did read all most all his Odiya creations.  I also read a good number of English books of other authors. I never in my dream even thought I can write in English, I never longed to do so.

Coming back to my failure in exam I was so frustrated and depressed that I thought something abnormal would definitely happen, I madly entered in the social media Face book and played a lot of chess on line. I was in unrest. Many a time I felt is this a doctor, a busy obstetrician, a man who brought technology within his own capacity to a rural village, employed 6-7 people in his set up in addition to heavy govt work. (working hour of mine is 20 hours per day). What can one do after doing same garage work repeatedly, what more can one do after being forced to manage a case of ruptured uterus without anesthesia and without support of blood when shifting to other station was definitely fatal, thank God. Now the world is mocking at the cycle pump laparoscopy, I once denied doing and implementing it in our CHC, I was considered arrogant and disobedient.

It is a human nature to improve but I failed at the entrance gate.

At one hand I have huge amount of loan invested in a poor return project at the other hand my mind denied to do the same work to earn.

Maa Saraswati saved me I went on reading and writing to combat my frustration.

I communicated my frustration to my father like teacher Sri Nrusingha Charan Moharana and he as usual I feel was the best man to reach when one feels depressed, a healing touch. With hIm I connected me to Late Sri Ashok Kumar Senapati @ Charusilasaranji my brother and financer for study.

I never imagined I can read the following books in a single year in the midst of my profession. These are 1-History of Sikhs Part 1 by Sardar Khuswant Singh as I finished the great died. 2- Many short stories from Malgudy days by R K Narayanan, 3- Many short stories from Sardar`s selected stories of different authors vol 1. 4- Madness of 1947 stories by Penguin that consists of Train to Pakistan by Sardar, Tamas, Sahitya academy winning novel by Bhisham Sahani, and stories of Saadat Hassan Manto, a big and powerful collection, 5- Shatabdi Purush the life story of Karmaveer Gourishankar Ray that is Utkal Deepika  and that is the history of Odisha from 1860s onwards by Dr Suvendra Mohan Srichandan Singh, the book was  harvested from college squire foot path (so sad). 6- Reread a big portion of Atmacharita of FM, 7- Milana Trisandhya a KAVYA by poetess Pravati Rout, 8- Bulldozers of Sri Manoj Das, reread 9- Amruta Fala by him reread, 10- About 50 stories of him 11- Sripada Sandhanare by him, 12- Smrutira Pradipa by him, 13- A lot of poems and essays by friends in face book, 14- Some writing by Sri Aurobindo,15- Portion of tale of two cities by Charles Dickens too hard to understand, 16- One night@callcenter by Chetan Bhagat, 17 – The Krishna Key by Ashwin Sanghi now reading will finish before 31st , 18- I feel blessed to add Williams Obstetrics at the beginning.

Probably in no single year of my life I had read so much.

On friend Subrat Mishra`s suggestion I told my son to create a blog for me that he did and this is my 25th post in last five months. I also had published one big Odiya story ‘SANCHITA SWAVIMAN’ where the powerful protagonist is a lady. An article for children is published in a magazine. Writing an Odiya story Jajabara for children had given me immense pleasure as it was written when the tragic Pakistan school killing happened that forced a change in the story line. Although I am mourning with the whole world the creative modulation possible by me had given me confidence.

I always feared rejection by editors that hampered my passion for writing and had an inferiority complex as a writer, I never like to send a story to any one I also feel although many of my friends are in nice position to help me in this regard I shall never ask for help that never gives pleasure. My school teacher Sri Sashi Bhusan Nanda seeing me going out through the hostel door that was the back door of the school told, “Rabi never use the back door neither for entry nor for exit.” This was a strong teaching 32 years back. It is better to publish in an unknown local magazine published by an unknown editor in a remote area than trying to publish with all possibility you would be rejected. What is the need as well? Put in your blog you will get more pleasure seeing some people from localities where none of your friends stay say France, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Indonesia, Romania do read it and they read a repeat article. I through this article salute them. This is not to offend my friends who are reading it at known localities, I feel nice to communicate with them through my BAKBAZ.

My basic back ground and feeling is down to earth type.  I feel a class five student writing a small poem needs attention and nobody has the right to reject, maybe one is unable to get her point, it maybe her fault in expressing, but also possible it is the poverty in understanding on the part of the editor. So right now I feel I shall put all my stories in blog and will give to a magazine only on demand. My blog has started earning. The above paragraph is a polite confession of a writer having intense inferiority complex not arrogant one dear friends.

Earlier I was forcing me to think a plot to write a story now themes and ideas are too many and forcing me to write; I have to control myself as too many articles may bear monotonous style and too predictable text. More ever my doctor`s profession pricks and pinches me,”Fool you are neglecting the laboring lady on the couch.” I also feel the same labor pain when a story is whirling in my mind, it is too often and too many now. Still the present position is I am a medical professional who is writing but the equation fights inside me to change position.

Oh yes I am now an ordinary bilingual writer who writes in Odiya the one east Indian language that has earned classical status in my nation, my native language and English the way I know it. Hope I am able to express me completely in both languages and gradually I have overcome the shyness to call me a writer and a bilingual one.

In the year I increased my chess online rating from 1300 to 1600 plus. I had left playing for the last two months hope it is sacrificed for the next five years when I shall reenter to binge playing to revive mental function, chess is the best tonic for brain. Good bye chess.(The passage is for the master player a doctor Gata Kamsky who enters the circuit and vanishes.)

The year as a family man I do not know what must be my so understanding wife and children are thinking, they sometimes feel this man had gone, a gone case. Sometimes they feel proud identifying several good aspects as well, without a working and earning wife who can be so absurd. When politicians pray vote in the name of remaining single I feel the irritation. If they are mocking at family people I invite my readers to study the so many recent or just previous CMs with single status of different states and feel how honest they are. The political system is dependent on black money at election all will do scams to gather money for next election it has nothing to do with if one is a bachelor or a widow. So I have taken the side of the family man who seems to be the most promising to change the system.
My children have turned adults and I feel they are in right spirit though from outward it seems they did not perform as per the present day norms, I believe their progress is no less than the desired. I am happy with my wife and children and extended family as well. The best part of the year is my parents at the beginning of the year were here at Cuttack and so also at the end of the year. On health issues they should stay with my physician wife that my brothers and relations now realized. God has kept my father healthy at 80 and my Bou healthy at 76. Who knows what will happen to them. My mentally unsound aunt passed away this year.

We travelled a few places outside the state and within too. In the month of February Sarita and children planned a tour to Ludhiana, Amritsar, Wagha boarder, and Baishnodevi temple. In the golden temple the religious man to collect my small donation was asked by me, how much should I pay for four persons to take lunch in the Guruka Langar without knowing it was too ridiculous a question. He did not like it. The reason I asked this question is, we always pay to take a meal in ISKCON temple or in the Anand bazaar of Srimandir and how without paying a kitchen would run. Whatever he informed was not with soothing voice neither with kinder language. Later when I read A history of Sikhs by Sardar Khuswant ji I could judge my error. Still I feel my ignorance though not a plea the man should have judged I did not dishonor the Guruka Langar . I did subscribe a small receipt and did not gather the inspiration to take my food there though I had a strong desire.

At wagha I felt too emotional I felt the gate should be broken the people who are doing anti slogans in the name of patriotism should embrace each other and the two countries should be one, I always felt differently when question of India and Pakistan came. Let me live in my space of patriotism. I imagine I am a kid my home is in this side and my mother`s place in that side, such a huge tragedy.

Our driver a Sikh, a seventy five year old but strong retired army driver gossiped from emergency, Sanjay Gandhi, Punjab unrest, Vindrenwala,  blue star operation, Indira Gandhi and went on. He was very knowledgeable and so honest. He is a pension holder but still driving at such old age with so ferocious speed but with precision, he guided us the best way our money and time can be saved. After a day’s hectic tour he drove us to Katra in the night via Pathankot and selected our lodge at the most affordable price.
The visit to Vaishno Devi  was in a very bad weather with rain and drizzles of ice speckles. We went walking as we thought maximum PUNYA would be gained by that. My younger son got separated and in such a difficult road with very bad weather with so much apprehension it was Matadi`s  divine attraction that pulled us there where the man on inquiry informed us Soham had gone for Darshan reaching ahead of us. We returned each one riding a pony or horse.
The driver `s name I have forgotten as he was always telling he is known as BULLDOZER in the whole of Ludhiana and many parts of Punjab. My children called him BULLDOZER uncle although he was nearer to my father`s age. We could not offer him a cup of tea even. He paid for his meals. We thought by any means we shall give him a memento in the next day but the tour operator changed the vehicle next day and he did not receive our call. He no doubt will remain as the most knowledgeable, the most honest, the strongest old man to drive us anywhere. I somehow guessed he is with some tragedy which I wanted to explore next day but it was in vain. May God keep the Sikh as a strong as a bulldozer for years.
We visited Bangalore in November and enjoyed seeing the historic Mysore palace and the splendorous Brindavan garden.
In the state we visited Buddhist places like Dhauligiri  on 12th December and Ratnagiri , Udayagiri, Olasuni on 19th December.

Another big influence Sri Dhruba Charan Khuntia my brother in law joined face book, he is starting a noble work and there is all possibility we will join it.

It was nice to do a get-together of the parents of the three roommates during our MBBS days. I and my wife have also planned a surprise good thing for my parents. My father in law we lost two years back and too often I felt for him, he at his death bed even wanted to know how my project was running. My mother in law whom my wife and son visited this week is fine. All others in my family and extended family remained well in the year.

In social front face book connected so many old friends from school and college days a lot many interaction happened. The friend circle increased even to other fields like literature, politics, and philosophy and so on.
It was a happy happening that Prof Raseswari Panigrahi joined politics and became an MLA of the ruling party.

It was my great pleasure to be connected to a great politician Ex MP Bhabani Shankar Hota of Sambalpur, I found him as my most respected politician, his philosophy I identify myself, it was my great pleasure to communicate with him through mails. Unlike other arrogant people he found time to respond and I am highly influenced by his socio political views, he is a man from the era when learned people joined politics. Now wining ability is the only criterion in selecting a candidate, and all know what that ability is, hopeless situation. Not hopeless, another national politician Mr AK has influenced me, I was not a corrupt man but to tell all my thinking to be clean was hypocrisy, now I feel I should be more proud of. It is his influence and as my elder brother a retired army man Sri Kartik Chandra Senapati a totally non political man became an active member of that party. I am connected to political thinking from the age of ten from 1977 but never any one influenced like AK did so I see a positive change is in process. As regard to NAMO, a phenomenon he is taking several progressive and dynamic steps but I never can subscribe the right wing thinking that surrounds him. Whatever it may be he is winning too many hearts that who the fool can deny.

God probably saves this country at difficult times and I am optimistic. In my state the political scenario is too disheartening; I feel Mr Kharabela Swain filing against chit fund corpus fund is the only positive sign from an Odiya politician. A leader is badly required for this state of otherwise ordinary politicians. I mean in the age group of 35 – 55.

My younger brother Kishore remained our platform in our village, well in his profession as an advocate busy in constructing a house, a nice development.

This year I the fool had several debates with many fools in social media; it had no positive result and was unnecessary. I fought with Gandhi haters, with those who wanted ghost fight between Patel ji and Nehru ji, those who tarnished the institution of mother son, son in law, someone`s wife, girlfriend, Ramzadi …. Zadi, Godse praisers, who virtually wants to kill Nehruji and so on, I should not have done this as that is not my role and I am not powerful enough, who am I to advise people who are fools like me.  However one exception was there that the following paragraph states.

In late October and throughout November and part of December I was involved in the controversy surrounding my unseen Guruji Sri Manoj Das as regards to Seashore honorarium, hope I played my role positively and appropriately, in the process I gained so many likeminded pleasant friends, others please excuse me I am taking the name of the leader Sri Samir Ranjan Das only as it is too long a list. Samirbabu is doing praiseworthy work. I was amazed to listen so many speeches by Guruji from You tube. I not as a fan, not as an Indian or Odiya but as an active literary man do feel Sri Manoj Das is far above this controversy and it was a very bad thing to drag the man who is a sage like person. It was my duty and I did it without any attachment to anything.

Now I am passive in that circle as my children counseled me not to be obsessive.

On a person or team’s social responsibility I became very happy that a tribal girl who left study finally became a qualified staff nurse with my team’s effort, we did not spend a lot, her family did it but sure it was only for our decisive guidance and support. Now she will be a more empowered woman, a better mother and with more social utility as an Indian. We also connected ourselves to a school for physically challenged people in a small but continuous way, very pleasing.

I got a promotion and with the new posting a new equation very soon is going to develop after that I shall reposition my dots and revise my plans so I am absolutely vacant in my thinking. Hope Lord will show me the right path.

Carry on message for next year, 1) Use the social media for your optimum benefit and that of society, do not allow it to distract you from progress, 2) No chess this year, 3) Accept the new posting gracefully even if it may create problem, 4) You are not suitable for politics as you have always an opinion that may differ the boss, 5) be communicative with available learned people and young ones who wait your suggestions 6) Without professional pleasure all other activities are meaningless do whatever is better for your profession, 7) Writing for children is difficult but competition is less, it is a required thing and most importantly it gives the ultimate creative pleasure as a story should have customers and children are best customers of stories, 8) If a spade is told a spade by a person he may face a lot of problem but if he writes a fiction where he calls a spade as an atom bomb through a clown like character it is the character who told not the writer, better to express the criticism through fiction.

I pray God to make this world and its inhabitants better in the year 2015.

A NEW STORY IN HATI SERIES.

onenight@kanpur.rlystation..A Hati series story. Dt.20.12.2014.
Senapati! A growing intense voice called me as he entered my room with his customary laughter, there was no chance he can be any one else other than the Sumo looking Dr Hati. Where the man had been for such a long gap? He was here and he was not here, I guessed my need was felt as whom else can listen his funny stories. To avoid it I after greeting him instantly asked a question. I was to travel a place that is not covered by any direct train from Odisha, my hosts advised me not to take the foolish step to plan a Taxi journey from Aurangabad to the place Chinchu in Maharastra as the road route is rough and dominated by a political group who had turned hostile to north Indians. Although I am from east they advised me a train journey. So I wanted a catching train from Aurangabad to Chinchu and wanted Dr Hati to suggest what should be the safe time gap so that I face no problem for any delay of my arrival at the station.
Hati laughed aloud, and suggested to listen to his experience eleven months back in the Kanpur Forkhabad route.
It was Kushal`s marriage ceremony, he clarified Abhisekh Purwar the only child of Ex Supt Engineer Minor Irrigation Mr Anup Kumar Purwar who was so close a family friend when we worked at Rajkhariar in Nuapada district of Odisha. He now is software professional at London. Time passed kid Kushal was marrying and it was a happy journey as Hati expected. The train was delayed by three hours and the connecting train had left half an hour before. First he rushed to the inquiry to ask him for help. The person advised to see the time table on the big hoardings and select the suitable one. he had to take several people`s help to select which were the trains that touched Forkhabad, not being convinced purchased a time table book and finalized the train after doing a mini research. Hati laughed again it was after seven hours that meant he would directly join the barat.

Next hurdle was to justify the train was delayed and allow his existing ticket as a valid one. So he went on to meet persons on several chairs as per the advice of any guard, made himself humble to explain everyone what the problem really was and one person pointed another person for a repeat show. Every time he had to thank the person for his patient hearing as if he was a problem to their work, and he was being unduly worried for a normal expected problem, he should have opted for the train at ten hours gap, it was Hati`s fault.

Patience pays he found out the correct chair, where the person had vast experience on the subject and needed no listening before putting his initials. Hati still stood there as the initials looked like two mosquitoes and the man did not explain what it meant. The man got annoyed and told, you can move any where you wish with this initial. He sniffed the importance of his own initials like a drug addict sniffs his kicking substance. Hati laughed to the man`s more discomfort and told is it valid for today or any day any place any train as he ended after complete control of his laughter with a calculated moronic look. Get lost man. But Hati wanted a refund of the differences as he had a reserved II AC ticket converted to a non reserved non AC general ticket by this mosquito looking initials. The man became furious and told with no compassion, you can do it after you meet Mr X to whom you are referred so wanted back the ticket.
Hati hided his identity being an obstetrician and told sorry sir it was his own fault and it is a professional byproduct of a psychiatrist, and passed a sarcastic comment that the other man had nothing to do but listen. Soon he wanted to get fresh somewhere, so disappeared from that scene.

He travelled as a baggage in a general compartment paying the price of IIAC class.  He could have gone further but wanted to refrain. He reached directly in the Barat, enjoyed their local customs.

So I told yes, this was your bad experience then.

Hati laughed again, as he told the worst was to arrive. Very next morning all the old family friends of Khariar consisting of a doctor`s family, an engineer`s family and a local business man they left Forkhabad with our host`s return gift and his enlarged smile with no sign of tiredness, Mr Purwar. They had to reach Kanpur by a common train but there after all were destined to different places with different trains , it was a very nice time to discuss old memories, they all had their spouses except Dr Hati. Hati`s train was first to leave Kanpur but it was a special train running three hours late. He had to see them all off one by one and then looked at the time table on the electronic display board that showed the special train stretched its delaying hours.
They did not notify it in a single go, every time Hati was thinking thirty more minutes the next display came as two or three hours late. When the inquiry was asked he told it was a special train. Hati laughed again.

“Senapati! Do you remember how the local tea seller at the first posting place behaved? If you ask him for a special tea he only adds a spoonful of extra sugar making the taste horrible. So the special term always makes things special not necessarily a better one. Like you and I are specialists now, may be not better in real.”

There was no chance to leave the station as the train time gradually changed. Disgusted Hati due to last night`s sleeplessness and heavy food of the wedding dinner was in too discomfort to take any food and by the time he felt hungry the canteen`s lunch serving finished. Sometimes it so happens, no problem bread, banana, chips etc did save him from stomach ache. He had limited options and observed the notifications on different boards. He looked deep into the faces of pick pockets displayed on the platform to make people careful. He felt angry, in a land of Ratnakar turning to Valmiki was the police justified to stick these posters, would it not compromise the life of these ordinary criminals who picked up pockets, was it not violation of human rights, he felt too angry. By that time he was on the counter of wheelers to choose a book.

He selected one night@callcenter by Chetan Bhagat. He had to laugh again somebody had picked his wallet, ha ha ha human rights he uttered to the astonishing amusement of the salesman cum owner and few other customers.

A man can laugh at the loss of a purse!

Such a bad day for him! He laughed again, he felt sorry for the thief as well, that purse although had a few hundred or less valued notes had no valuable cards or documents. He counted how many times in his life poor and lower people betrayed him against the betrayers of upper strata and betrayal by the system as a whole. He found out, the system failed him more often. He could not be happy but could not gather anger against the pickpocket. He drew a few bucks from ATM and tried to forget all problems he has faced till now.

He purchased the book and sat at a place in the waiting room cum entrance to the station from where he can easily see the electronic display board.

Yes Indian railway notified train number 538724 SPL train from New Delhi to Bhubaneswar was expected only after three hours, he wanted to go inside city to have some good food but who knows already ten hour late train if got a chance may catch up some lost time and it may come within an hour. Better not to leave the place, the circular  platform around a huge pillar that cannot allow you to sleep  even if you did not sleep last night after a hectic participation in a marriage ceremony. He went to the railway canteen to have a standard north Indian vegetarian thali roughly at seven PM, oh he felt refreshed with addition of a coffee. He then evacuated his full bladder to add to the comfort, with no care to the smell and the ugly images on the walls of the toilet. At peace with himself he returned back to the seat that was still preserved for him as requested to the young couple when he had left the place. Hati could not know the couple are married or just friends as the lady was with salwar and kamij with some bangles none of which was red or white sankha, neither she wore any vermillion, she might be in her twenties only, with a purse that suggested modern, she seemed very happy in company of the young man a very handsome tall and sharp looking man who wore a look of concern and responsibility.

Hati further told it was his own inability to differentiate between Hindi and Urdu for which he could not know they were married or just friends. He was already sure the lady could never be a sister to the man. That never was a difficult task to sum up for any adult anywhere. If they were speaking Hindi then they were friends, if it was Urdu then might be married but also could be friends. Hati wanted the presence of the couple at least till his special train arrived, so he asked when their train was expected.

The lady was pinched by the man as she stopped telling anything, the man answered in the morning.

The answer did not satisfy Hati, why a young couple reaches in a station in the evening if the train is in next morning. But they have already done a favor by keeping his seat reserved, maybe there is a story in it but it may be too private to narrate to a stranger like him. Better to read the book one night@callcenter, although the name suggested the book is a little spicy it was as usual of Bhagat enjoying time pass. Hati being familiar to his other novels could read it in speed with predictable lines he skipped to save time. It was month of January, cold wind got its wings to enter the breeches in the station, and soon everybody pooled over their shields against cold, the young man put on his white jacket and the lady a shawl. Hati was with his blazer and to cover his head he had no cap or muffler, he made a cap from his towel as he did in childhood and wore it with funny look that the couple noticed and without hiding the fun they smiled at Hati, the woman with a little more openness than her man. Her man!

They were on his right side and the left side was constantly changing, some people sat down and then moved as their train arrived, which is a normally expected scene in a station, but soon a rush was noticed may be arrival time of one or several important train was approaching. So there was congestion.

Hati looked at the time table it once again notified another installment of delay by two hours. So he felt relaxed to get rid of the responsibility of gazing at the board for at least one hour and started a new chapter in the novel. To avoid the congestion the girlish lady had now curved herself as per the curve of the pillar putting her head on the lap of the boyish man who supported her with cares to avoid a possible fall and covered her with the shawl. Hati thought she did the right thing to acquire some space in the crowd, who could challenge a lady in sleep to beg a seat to sit. His left side was gradually pushing him towards the side of the couple and the young man took note of it and did the necessary protection by moving his left thigh more towards Hati so that any contact is with him not her. Hati went on reading.

Soon the platform was full of life, a train may be an important one arrived, many got down and so many rushed into, at that dead hours also, some vendors became active, porters bargained, the taxi drivers reached the platform to attract customers, some guardians were seeing their children off, older parents were leaving and repeating the instructions to their son to take care in their absence. Fifteen minutes after the train passed the station became calm and relatively thin in population.

Now it carried the passengers of defaulter trains like Hati, some permanent nocturnal dwellers regular in the station, some mysterious elements like the two on Hati`s right side. Soon Hati wanted to finish few more pages as the board declared another delay. Hati wanted to take some rest, his return ticket was sleeper class only and there was no vacancy in the rest room as he left his place and enquired. This time he put his cap or towel on his seat and moved, just smiling at the young man that he understood and nodded.

He had to return back as there was rush and more importantly the display board was defective.

His absence allowed the young man to feel comfortable to adjust his tall body adjacent to his partner with both of them with all their four feet towards Hati`s space, towards their head the might be heavy suitcase they placed that worked as an anchor whose handle the man hold so that he did not fall down, he made him C shaped just outer to the she, the man generously pushed his leg on Hati`s thigh converting him to the leg end anchor. Hati had no other option other than reading the novel. To his left side a new big size human with a heavy jacket pushed in so that Hati`s big body became stable with opposite and almost equal push from both side @kanpur station.

He now wanted to read the book with war time urgency as he could feel a total load of his left side guest who was dozing and breathing strongly alcoholic, he pushed and made the guest erect not once but several times and by two AM the book was finished .

By that time he was determined like a child not to move out of the place whatever problem may come. On his right side he was filling the dynamics of four legs two very soft and two very firm. They were readjusting their position every few seconds and all time by kicking Hati`s thigh generously. The big shawl has converted thy curved platform to their private bed room, as Hati was finding the CCTV camera which was just in a position to catch all motions of the couple.

Senapati! Hati called with his laughter, the most interesting part of the scene was an about sixty years old man left his original seat to come closer to observe their play and he was more unmindful than the couple as more people were looking at the bespectacled man who was lost in peeping, several time adjusting his glasses, and he was placed just at the eye of the camera. Hati could not control his laughter which made no difference to the lost three, as the alcoholic person opened up with laughter that expelled nauseating smell of liquor. It was a female not a male as the smell of alcohol suggested Hati for the last two hours.

“Sorry madam I pushed you several times thinking you were a sir.”

“Oh you people identify alcohol with masculinity, right, my ex-husband also assumed so, he told a little alcohol opens you up and forced me to drink. Do you know who I am? I am Susheela the daughter of the Mayor of Kanpur, we control the private transport of entire Kanpur and half of the district, He disowned me. Reason? I wanted to divorce my husband who is his friend’s son whom I had no interest to marry; I am a law student right now and travelling to Allahabad where my internship is continuing. I was supposed to go in proper time but you know I entered a pub. In the morning I shall catch the Janshatabdi and reach there in time, this is not my fault , the fault of my ex husband and my father who is the mayor of Kanpur she repeated. She further asked are you comfortable with this alcoholic thirty year old woman, I suppose you are a doctor?”
“How could you guess properly madam, yes I am a gynaecologist.”
“No big guess, when you took out your funny pain to scratch your nape of neck on the back side, I saw the joker looking pain that only is presented to the doctors by Pharma companies, I know , I know as my brother in law is a doctor. You cannot imagine how he plays like a puppet in the hands of the companies, do not mind doctor you may be a good one, I suppose you are a good one, my mind says you are good, you are too tired if you put your head on my lap and sleep like my baby I have no problem, you are the right person whom I can share my feelings as you are gynaecologist, see which woman does not want to be a mother, but to be a mother a husband should use the woman properly, do you understand doctor what I mean properly, you must have read FMT book of Modi I meant medical jurisprudence, my man wanted 377 and always only this and it was my night mare, he made me alcoholic to use my body as per his wish, I wanted a baby he was not interested, it was too painful and I fought back, I got the divorce easily and left everything there, my father did not believe his daughter he disowned me with a very high deposit in my account, actually my father is afraid of his father he is the party boss, doctor! you think I am lying , no see my papers, see this medical reports, see these photographs of unnatural offence by him how brutal he was, you tell doctor was I not right, did my father do justice to a daughter, did filling my account is enough, why I am talking it to a stranger like you, yes I have taken alcohol I am gossiping, I feel a man in you, may be the ghost of Froyed entered me, yes I want to be a mother I need a man who can do it not necessarily my husband, can you doctor, I have plenty of money.”

“Why are you not seeking the help of a psychiatrist, why can`t you give up alcohol, what is your right to tell your story to stranger males who can take advantage of your situation, you are pursuing a carrier with a prospect, you are young you can very well correct yourself, and come to normalcy, do not behave foolish, the world did not behave kindly with you now you have no world, you alone is your world, you be kind and human on you.”

“Sorry doctor I am a good lady when not in a high, I have developed a relationship at Allahabad with a young advocate too, I want to get rid of this condition, can you suggest how.”

So soon a person can be normal, with her loud cry, strong desire to be a mother, a fatherly advice from Dr Hati , waning stride of alcohol she was talking normal. Hati advised her to tell her new boy friend all the problem and rush to a psychiatrist, and wanted to talk to her father, which she gave.

With their conversation the young couple also awakened, actually they were awake all the time. The old man had rediscovered his real age, when Hati looked at the couple the man looked grave as if telling who are you bloody fool to look at us like this as it was their time only, the lady however fetched a forced smile to cover up her shame as actually she was doing to restructure her all robes.

Nobody had a fault as the day ended, the sky bore the first glimpse of dawn, the urban cock somewhere shouted as the black crow crowed, the tea vendor served tea to all the above characters, the first announcement of his special train flew from the loud speaker, Dr Hati finished his tea and left the place with a good bye to all including the old man whose CCTV footage if anybody viewed must be too amusing. Hati rushed to the correct platform where he wanted to do the morning requirements. Finally the train arrived twenty-one hour late, made Hati wise to know why special train tickets are so easily available.

Hati laughed and asked me, “Tell me Senapati! Whether I behaved like a male or a man.”

My answer was onenight@kanpur.rlystation cannot tell what the real Dr Hati is, you sir have to travel with several special trains, we both laughed as the emergency call for me arrived.
