ଜାତି! ଏକ ସଂକୀର୍ଣ ଓ ବ୍ୟାପକ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିକୋଣ ।

ଜାତି, ସାମାଜିକ ଆବଶ୍ୟକତାରୁ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇଥିଲା । ଯେମିତି ଆଜିକାଲି ଆମ ଚିକିତ୍ସା ପାଇଁ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ବିଭାଗର ଚିକିତ୍ସକ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇ ଚିକିତ୍ସାକୁ ଶୃଂଖଳିତ ତଥା ଉତ୍କର୍ଷ କରିଛନ୍ତି ସେମିତି ଦିନେ ସାମାଜିକ ଜୀବନର ଉଷା କାଳରେ ନିଜର ଯୋଗ୍ୟତା, ଋଚି ଏବଂ ସାମାଜିକ ଚାହିଦାକୁ ଭିତ୍ତିକରି ବିଭିନ୍ନ କର୍ମକୁ ଆଦରି ନେଇଥିବା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ବା ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ସେହି କର୍ମରେ ବିଶେଷଜ୍ଂୟ(specialist) ଭାବେ ପରିଗଣିତ ହୋଇଥିବା ସମ୍ଭବ ମନେହୁଏ । ସେ କାଳରେ ଶିକ୍ଷାର ସାର୍ବଜନୀନତା ବହୁଳ ନହୋଇଥିବାରୁ ଏହା ସ୍ୱଭାବିକ ଯେ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ବୃତ୍ତିର ପ୍ରଶିକ୍ଷଣ ଉପର ପିଢିରୁ ତଳ ପିଢିକୁ ଏକ ପରିବାର ମଧ୍ୟରେ ସୀମିତ ରହୁଥିଲା । ବୃତ୍ତିଟି ପ୍ରତି ଆଦର ଥାଉକି ନଥାଉ ଜୀବିକା ପାଇଁ ସଂତାନକୁ ଶିଖିବକୁ ପଡୁଥିଲା । ଏହି କର୍ମପ୍ରତି ଅନୁରାଗ ଏବଂ ଆବଶ୍ୟକ ପ୍ରଶିକ୍ଷଣ ଥିବା ଆଶାକରି ଉକ୍ତ କର୍ମରେ ନିଯୁକ୍ତ ପରିବାର ସହ ବୈବାହିକ ସମ୍ପର୍କକୁ ଶ୍ରେୟ ଦେବା ମଧ୍ୟ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସ୍ୱଭାବିକ ମନେହୁଏ । ଅତଏବ ପରସ୍ପର ସହ ବଂଧୁତା ଓ ନିଷ୍ଠାଥିବା ଏକ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହେଲା ଯାହାକୁ ସଚରାଚରେ କୁହାଗଲା ଜାତି । ସେମାନେ ଏକ ନିର୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ କୌଳିକ ବୃତ୍ତିଧାରୀ ହୋଇ ତହିଁ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧିତ ଉପାର୍ଜନ ତଥା ବାଣିଜ୍ୟରେ ବ୍ୟାତ୍ପୃପ୍ତ ହେଲେ । ଯେଉଁ ଜାତି ମାନଂକର ବ୍ୟବସାୟ କରିବାର ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା ନଥିଲା ଯଥା ଜୀବନ ଦର୍ଶନ, ବୌଦ୍ଧିକ ତତ୍ତ୍ୱବାଦୀ, ମାର୍ଗଦର୍ଶକ, ପୂଜକ, ଧର୍ମରକ୍ଷକ, ଶାସକବର୍ଗ, ଦେଶରକ୍ଷା ବାହିନୀ ପ୍ରଭୃତି ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ, ସେମସ୍ତେ ରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରୀୟ ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ଉପଭୋଗ ପୂର୍ବକ ପ୍ରଭୁ ପଦ୍ୟବାଚ୍ୟ ଉଚ୍ଚଜାତି ବୋଲାଇଲେ ।

ଏକ ସୁଶାସନ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବିନା ଆଶଂକା ଏବଂ ବିନା ଉଚ୍ଚାକାଂକ୍ଷା ସହ ଶାନ୍ତିପୂର୍ଣ ଜୀବନ ଜୀବୀକା, ଉପାର୍ଜନ ଏବଂ ବାଣିଜ୍ୟକୁ ଉପଭୋଗ ଓ ଉପଯୋଗ କରିବା ବର୍ଗ ବେପାରୀ ବା ବୈଶ୍ୟ ବୋଲାଇଲେ । ତତ୍ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ତୈଳ ଉତ୍ପାଦନ ଓ ବିକ୍ରିବଟା କଲେ ସେମାନେ ତୈଳିକ ବୈଶ୍ୟ ବା ତେଲିଜାତି ରୂପେ ପରିଚିତ ରହିଲେ । ଏହାମଧ୍ୟ ଆମ ସାଧାରଣ ଜ୍ଂୟାନ କହିବ ତେଲିଟିଏ ସୋରିଷ କିମ୍ବା ବାଦାମ ଚାଷ କରୁଥିବା ଚଷା କିମ୍ବା ଘଣା ତିଆରି କରୁଥିବା ବିଶ୍ୱକର୍ମା କିମ୍ବା ଭଲ ଦାମୁଡି ଯୋଗାଇ ପାରୁଥିବା ଗୋପଳ ସହ ଅଧିକ ଘନିଷ୍ଠ ହେବ କିମ୍ବା ଅସିହସ୍ତେ ଅଶ୍ୱାରହୀ ସହ ଅଧିକ ଘନିଷ୍ଠ ହେବ !! ଏଣୁ ବୈଶ୍ୟ, କ୍ଷତ୍ରୀୟ ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣ ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ବର୍ଗ ହୋଇଥିବା ସମ୍ଭବ । ବୈଶ୍ୟମାନେ ପୁଣି ମିଳିମିଶି ହାଟ ବଜାର କରୁଥିବେ ।

 ବଜାରର ସଂଗ୍ୟା କ୍ରମେ ବ୍ୟାପକ ହୋଇ ଜାଭା ସୁମାତ୍ରା ସାତ ସମୁଦ୍ର ତେର ନଈ ଅତିକ୍ରମକରିଥିବ ଏବଂ ସାଧାରଣ ଘଣା ପେଡୁଥିବା ତେଲିଠୁ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି ଜାହାଜ ମାଲିକ ସାଧବ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତେ ବହୁଧା ହୋଇଥିବ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ପରିସର । ଉକ୍ତ ଜାତି ମଧ୍ୟରେ’ବି ଉଚ୍ଚ ନୀଚ୍ଚ ବର୍ଗ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇଥିବେ!ଏହି ତୈଳ ବା ସ୍ନେହସାରକୁ ନେଇ ଜୀବିକା କରୁଥିବା ବର୍ଗ ସ୍ନେହୀ ରୂପେ ମଧ୍ୟ ପରିଚିତ ହେଲେ।

ପୁରୁଣା ଯୁଗରେ ତୈଳ କେବଳ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ ଇନ୍ଧନ ମଧ୍ୟ ହୋଇଥିବାରୁ ଜାତିଟି ଦେଶ ଗଠନ ଓ ବିତ୍ତଶାଳୀ ହେବା ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ପ୍ରତୀତ ହୁଏ । ହୁଏତ ବୈଶ୍ୟବର୍ଗର ସର୍ବାଧିକ ଧନୀ ହେବାର ସୌଭାଗ୍ୟ ଅର୍ଜନ କରିଥିଲା ଏବଂ ନିଜକୁ ଧନର ରକ୍ଷକ କୁବେର ଦେବଂକ ସହ ସଂଯୋଜିତ କରି କୁବେରପୁତ୍ର ବୋଲାଇଲା ।

ଏ ଲେଖକ ତେଲି ମାନଂକର ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପରିଚୟକୁ ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ଅନୁଶୀଳନ କରେ । କୌଣସି ଦୈବୀ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦେଶକୁ ଏହା ସହ ଯୋଡାଯିବା କଳ୍ପନା ପ୍ରସୂତ ମାତ୍ର, ଏହା ବିଚାର କରେ ।

ଜାତି ଏକ ସାମାଜିକ ଆବଶ୍ୟକତାରୁ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇଥିବାରୁ ଏହା ପ୍ରତ୍ୟକ ଦେଶ ଓ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟକ ଧର୍ମରେ ଉଣା ଅଧିକେ ରହିଛି । ତେବେ ଅନ୍ୟ ଦେଶ ବା ଧର୍ମରେ ଜାତିକୁ ନେଇ ବିଭେଦ ଓ ବାଛବିଚାର ଆମ ଦେଶ ଏବଂ ଆମ ହିଂଦୁ ଧର୍ମ ପରି ବ୍ୟାପକ ଓ କ୍ଷତି ଉପୁଯାଇବା ପ୍ରକାରରେ ନଥିବାରୁ ଆମକୁ ମନେହୁଏ ଏହା ଯେପରି କେବଳ ଆମର ସାମଜିକ ଉତ୍କର୍ସତା ଅଥବା ସଂକୀର୍ଣତା । ଜାତିଭାଇ ମାନଂକୁ ଏକତା ଓ ସୌହର୍ଦ୍ଦ୍ୟରେ ବାଂଧିବାପାଇଁ ଜାତିକୈଂଦ୍ରିକ ସଂଗଠନ ହେବା ବାଂଛିତ ଅବା ଏହା ଏକ ମଧ୍ୟଯୁଗୀୟ ଅଯୌକ୍ତିକ ଚିଂତାଧରା ତାହା ବିଚାର ସାପେକ୍ଷ । ସେ ସମ୍ପର୍କରେ କୌଣସି ମତରଖିବା ପୂର୍ବରୁ କିଛି ଐତିହାସିକ ଦୃଷ୍ଟାଂତ ବିଚାରକରିବାର ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା ଅନୁଭବ କରେ ।

ପ୍ରାକ୍ ସ୍ୱାଧିନ ଭାରତରେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟକ ବର୍ଗକୁ ଦେଶାତ୍ମବୋଧତାରେ ଯୋଡିବାଋ ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା ଥିଲା ଅତ୍ୟଧିକ । ସମାଜ ବହୁ ପ୍ରକାର ସଂକୀର୍ଣତା ଓ ହୀନମାନ୍ୟତାରେ ସଢୁଥିଲା । ଜାତିପ୍ରଥା ତୀବ୍ର ଆକାରରେ ଥିଲା। ଏଭଳି ଏକ ଘଡିସଂଧି ମୂହୁର୍ତ୍ତରେ ଯେନ ତେନ ପ୍ରକାରେଣ ସମସ୍ତଂକୁ ଦେଶର ମୁକ୍ତିରେ ଯୋଡଯିବାର ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା ରହିଥିଲା ।

ଏ ଲେଖକର ଇତିହାସରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ ନାହିଁ ତେବେ ସାମାନ୍ୟ ଛାତ୍ରଟିଏ ପରି ଋଚି ରଖିଛି ।

କର୍ମବୀର ଗୌରୀଶଂକରଂକ ଜୀବନୀ, “ଶତାବ୍ଦୀ ପୁରୁଷ”ରେ ଲେଖକ ଶ୍ରୀ ସୁଭେଂଦ୍ରମୋହନ ଶ୍ରୀଚଂଦନ ସିଂହ ସେହି ମହାନ ଆତ୍ମା କାୟସ୍ଥ ଜାତିର ସଂଗଠନକୁ ସାକାରତ୍ମକ ଦିଗ ଦର୍ଶନ ଦେବା ଓ ବଳିଷ୍ଠ କରିବା କଥା ଲେଖିଛନ୍ତି । ସେହିଭଳି ଶ୍ରୀ ସୁରେଂଦ୍ର ମହାନ୍ତି ମଧୁବାବୁଂକ ଜୀବନୀ ଶତାବ୍ଦୀର ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଓ କୂଳବୃଦ୍ଧ ଲେଖିବା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ତୈଳିକ ଜାତିର ଉତ୍ଥାନର ସର୍ବମାନ୍ୟ ପ୍ରଥମ ନେତା ଶ୍ରୀ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀନାରାୟଣ ସାହୁଂକ ସମ୍ବଂଧରେ ଲେଖିଛ୍ଂତି ସେ କିଭଳି ସାଇକେଲ ଚଳାଇ କଟକର ଜନସାଧରଣଂକୁ ଗୋରକ୍ଷା ଓ ନିଶା ନିବାରଣ ପାଇଁ ବ୍ୟାପକ ସଚେତନ କରୁଥିଲେ ଏବଂ ତୈଳିକ ମାନଂକୁ ତଥା ସର୍ବସାଧାରଣଂକୁ କଟକରେ ସୁସଂଗଠିତ କରି ଦେଶର ତଥା ଓଡିଆ ମାନଂକର ନବଜାଗରଣର ମୂଖ୍ୟସ୍ରୋତରେ ସାମିଲ କରିଥିଲେ ।

ନିଜକୁ ତଥା ନିଜଗୋଷ୍ଠୀକୁ ବହୁଜନ ହିତାୟଃ ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟ ନେଇ ଯଦି ସଂଗଠିତ କରଯାଏ ତେବେ ଯେକୌଣସି ସଂଗଠନର ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା ରହିଛି ଏବଂ ଏହାର ସଂଗଠକ ମାନେ ଦେଶମାତୃକାର ଉପଯୁକ୍ତ ସେବା କରି ଇଶ୍ୱରଂକ କରୁଣା ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହେବା ଦୃଢ ନିଶ୍ଚିତ ।

ତେବେ ଆଜିକାଲି ଭୋଟବ୍ୟାଂକ ରାଜନୀତିକୁ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ରଖି ନାନାଦି ସଂକୀର୍ଣ ସମ୍ବେଦନଶୀଳ ସଂକେତ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ସମାଜକୁ ବିଭକ୍ତ କରାଯାଇ ଏକ କ୍ଷୂଦ୍ରମନା ଅନୁଗତ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରାଯିବା ଏବଂ ଏହି ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀର ମାଲିକ ସାଜି ଦଳୀୟ ରାଜନୀତିରେ ପ୍ରଧାନ୍ୟ ବିସ୍ତାର କରିବା, କଂଚା ଭାଷାରେ କହିଲେ ନିଜର ବ୍ଲାକ୍ ମେଲ୍ କରିବାର କ୍ଷମତା ବଢାଇବା ଯଦି କୌଣସି ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି କିମ୍ବା ବର୍ଗର ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟ ହୁଏ, ତାହା ନିନ୍ଦନୀୟ ତଥା ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସୀମିତ ।

ନିକଟ ଅତୀତରେ ହଠାତ ଜଣେ ଶକ୍ତିଶାଳୀ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ଅନ୍ୟ ଏକ ପଛୁଆ ବର୍ଗକୁ ସଂଗଠିତ କରି ନିଜର ଶକ୍ତି ପ୍ରଦର୍ଶନ କରି ଏକ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ଦଳର ପ୍ରାର୍ଥୀ ଟିକେଟ ହାସଲ କରିବାକୁ ଯତ୍ପୋରନାସ୍ତି ଉଦ୍ୟମ କରି ଅସଫଳ ହେଲେ । ଏବେ ଦୁର୍ନୀତିର ତଦନ୍ତର ସମ୍ମୂଖୀନ ସେ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଂକ ଏତାଦ୍ଦୃଶ ଆଚରଣକୁ ନେଇ ଉକ୍ତ ଜାତି ପାଇଲା କଣ?

ଲେଖକ ଆକ୍ଷିବୁଜି ବିଲେଇ କ୍ଷୀର ପିଇବା ପରି ସମାଜ ଜାତିପ୍ରଥାରୁ ମୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇଛି କହି ଦେବାକୁ ପସନ୍ଦ କରିବ ନାହିଁ । ପ୍ରକୃତ ପକ୍ଷେ ପ୍ରତିଦିନର ଅନୁଭବ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ନାକାରାତ୍ମକ । ବହୁ ଉଚ୍ଚ ପଦବୀରେ ଅବସ୍ଥାପିତ ଉଚ୍ଚ ଜାତିର ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ମଧ୍ୟ ଅଦ୍ୟାବଧି ଏ ଧାରଣା ପୋଶଣ କରନ୍ତିକି ସେମାନେ ଅନ୍ୟ ମାନଂକ ଠାରୁ ସଭ୍ୟ ଉନ୍ନତ ତଥା ଅଧିକ ସୁଖର ଦାବିଦାର, ଏହାକୁ ପ୍ରତିରୋଧ କରିବା ସକାଶେ କୌଣସି ବିବାଦି ସଂଗଠନର ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା ଅବଶ୍ୟ ଅନୁଭୁତ ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ, କାରଣ ଏ କଥାକୁ ବିରୋଧ କରିବା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଂକ ସଂଖ୍ୟା ପ୍ରତି ଜାତି ମଧ୍ୟରେ କମ ନୁହେଁ ।

ସମ୍ପ୍ରତ୍ତି ତୈଳିକ ବୈଶ୍ୟ ଜାତି ବେଶ ଉନ୍ନତ । ଶିକ୍ଷା, ମାନ, ଧନ, ରାଜନୈତିକ ଯୋଗଦାନ ଓ ପାରଦର୍ଶିତା କୌଣସିଥିରେ ଊଣା ନୁହନ୍ତି ଏହି ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ । ନାରୀ ଶିକ୍ଷା, ଉଚ୍ଚ ଶିକ୍ଷା, ରାଜ ନୈତିକ ମହତ୍ତାକାଂକ୍ଷା, ରିସ୍କନେବାପାଇଁ ଆଗଭର ହେବା ଗୁଣରେ କମି ଏହିସବୁ ସମସ୍ୟାକୁ ଦୂରକଲେ ହୁଏତ ନିଜ ଜାତିର ଉନ୍ନତି କରିବାର ଚିନ୍ତାର ଆବଶ୍ୟକତା ରହିବ ନାହିଁ । ହୀନମାନ୍ୟତାରୁ ଉର୍ଦ୍ଧ୍ୱକୁ ଉଠିଲେହିଁ ଜାତି ଉନ୍ନତି କରିବ ।

କାହାକୁ ନୀଚ୍ଚ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଚିନ୍ତା କଲାବେଳେ ମନେରଖିବା ଉଚିତକି ଆମ୍ଭକୁ କେହି ସେହି ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଦେଖୁଅଛି। ମନେକରାଯାଉ ଆମ ଡାକ୍ତରଖାନାର କର୍ମଚାରୀଂକ ସାଥିରେ ମୁଁ ପୁରୀ ଯାଇଛି, ସମସ୍ତେ ମଂଦିରକୁ ଗଲେ ବିଚରା ଝାଡୁଦାରକୁ ବାଦଦେଇ, ଆମେ କହିଲୁ ଏହା ଚଳନୀ ଏବଂ କିଛି ଘଟି ନଥିବାର ଛଳନା କଲୁ ଏବଂ ସେଠାରୁ ଫେରି ତୈଳିକ ବୈଶ୍ୟ ସଂଘ ବୈଠକରେ ଲମ୍ବାଲମ୍ବା କଥା କହିଲି, ଏହା କଣ ଜାତିପଣିଆ। ଆମକୁ ଜାତିକୁ ସଂଗଠିତ କରିବାକୁ ପଡିବ କିଂତୁ ସମାଜକୁ ଉତ୍ଥାନ କରିବା ପାଇଁ । ତୈଳିକ ମାନେ କେତେ ରୋଗୀଂକୁ ଡାକ୍ତରଖାନା ନେଲେ, ନିଦାଘ ରୌଦ୍ର କାଳରେ କେତେ ତ୍ତୃଷାର୍ତ୍ତଂକୁ ଜଳଦାନ କଲେ, କେତେ ଅନ୍ୟ ଏବଂ ନିଜ ଜାତିର ଦରିଦ୍ର ଛାତ୍ରଂକ ବିଦ୍ୟାଦାନର ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା କଲେ, କେତେ ୟୁନିଟ ରକ୍ତଦାନକଲେ, କେତେଲୋକଂକର କର୍ମସଂସ୍ଥାନ କରିପାରିଲେ ତାହାକୁ ନେଇ ସଂଘ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକଲେ ଏହା ଏକ ସମସ୍ତଂକ ପାଇଁ ଉତ୍ତମ ଦୃଷ୍ଟାନ୍ତ ହେବ ।

ମୋ ଗ୍ରାମ ତୁଳତୀ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗତଃ ବୈଷ୍ନବ ସାହୁ ମହାତ୍ମାଂକ ଗ୍ରାମ, ସେ କୋରାଇ ବ୍ଲକ୍‘ର ରାଜନୀତିକୁ ଦୀର୍ଘ ଅର୍ଦ୍ଧ ଶତାବ୍ଦୀ ଧରି ନିଜ ନିୟଂତ୍ରଣରେ ରଖିଥିଲେ, ଏହା ତୈଳିକ ମାନଂକ ପାଇଁ ଯେତିକି ଗର୍ବର କଥା ନୁହେଁ ତତୋଧିକ ଗୌରବର କଥା ହେଉଛି ତାଂକ ସଚ୍ଚୋଟପଣିଆ, ବିରୋଧିମାନଂକୁ ସମାଦର, ଦାନ, ଅନୁଷ୍ଠାନ ଗଠନ କରିବାରେ ନିଷ୍ଠା ଓ ବଳିଷ୍ଠ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିତ୍ୱ । ସେ ଯଦି ଅନ୍ୟ ରାଜନୈତିକ ନେତାଂକ ଭଳି କ୍ଷମତାର ଅପବ୍ୟବହାର କରି ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ଠୁଳାଇବାରେ ବ୍ୟାତ୍ପୃପ୍ତ ହୋଇଥାଆଂତେ, ତଥାପି କଣ ଆମେ ଜାତି ଲୋକ ହିସାବରେ ଗର୍ବ କରିଥାଆନ୍ତେ!

ଆଜି ପ୍ରଧାନମଂତ୍ରୀ ନରେଂଦ୍ର ମୋଦିଂକୁ ନେଇ ତେଲି ଜାତି ଗର୍ବ କରୁଛି ତେବେ ସମୟ କହିବ ଏହା କେତେ ଯଥାର୍ଥ?  ଜଣେ ଭାରତୀୟ ହିସାବରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଶୁଭେଛା ଜଣାଇବା ସେ ଏଭଳି କିଛି କରଂତୁ ଯାହା ସମସ୍ତ ତର୍କର ଉର୍ଦ୍ଧ୍ୱରେ ଉଜ୍ଜ୍ୱଳ ରହିବ କାଳ କାଳକୁ ।

Now India is in the ICC world cup 2015, wishing all the best to my national team let me revive my childhood memoir of the arrival of cricket in our field Nuagadia Padia, that field whose dimension was more than Barabati stadium plus Baliyatra ground combine at that time.

It is interesting sports enthusiasm has not decreased in my village as I see members of Yubashakti club are organizing football and cricket tournaments every year with good performance of the host team. They are also going to higher level in nearby tournaments.

Never think the sports in our village was poor in your parents and grandparents generation.

You ask the great field or you ask Maa Hingula or the banyan tree of the drum beaters sahi you may get the answer. The sporting activities in 1970s were too high. I was born in 1967 and was a sixth class student in 1978 when I saw what the game of cricket is about.

 Our village culture was pro sports. Sri Binod Mohanty whom everybody feared more than a tiger also encouraged sporting activity. When a trophy our then club named as Bazi Rout yubak sangha did win it was being carried with the roaring of three cheers for Tulati, for Bazi Rout etc and we all were saying Hip Hip Hurrah without knowing its meaning.

 I got my both wrists broken when fetching Black Berry from Nakhamara in between Haladigadia and Sundara pokhari on a Sunday, Sisira Sahoo(Babuladada), Sashranshu Sekhar Mohanty(Bipinidada) Subash Barik and me went there but I came back with both wrists broken and they brought me home. I feared thereafter to be too active in exhaustive sports.

This made me a Chess player and Volleyball booster.

The team of foot ball was leaded by a great sports man of entire area Sri Prafulla Mohanty (Hariada) whose team mates were Shalluvai, Aswinidada, Tunkadada, Sukutadada, Kathiabhai, Baliavai, Kartika bhai and others. Aswinidada is the link between 1970s and 1980s. If Prafulla Mohanty was the leader of 1970s, Sukharanjan Mohanty (Puniavai) was the leader of 1980s.

Imagine 1978 when there was not a single motor cycle in the village and the only one available with Sri Narayana Mohanty of Pandula which once or twice Hariada brought to ride was a scenery for us and the smell of the burning petrol of the Bullet was sweet and to smell it we ran after the vehicle, at that time we started playing cricket.

 In rural India cricket entered just after 1983 after Kapil`s team own the world cup at Lords defeating the mighty West Indies. Of course people listened cricket commentary with their radio sets. These were the college educated youth who witnessed the game in city areas.

The whole of the village youth were spending their time from 4.30 pm to evening in the field. The main team played in the main ground, children played here and there. The Dalit people played separately that was too difficult for me to accept. Same people can play with us in school but cannot do it off school. But there was no tension over that issue. The vast field could have accommodated ten more football fields. No one told football as soccer.

Volleyball was played only in winter on the opposite side of the village(east). Here also almost the same names were in the best list.

I was a sixth class student means it was in 1978  on the day of Prathamaastami the village was in festive mood. The village youth staying in Bhubaneswar or cuttack as students or as employees notable among them Padana bhai, Baina Dada, Apata Dada, Anadi dada, Kuturadada, Arunavai(nephew of Kathiavai) and all the footballers gathered on the field with new things called Bat, a ball that is too small in comparison to the football or volleyball, sticks called stumps or wicket in combination, bells, helmet, Pads, gloves of two type  and other cricket gears never seen by us before. Some were with white trousers and shirts that created odd feeling. How a game can be played with full dresses was my dilemma as with sports one gets sweats that never suits to covered robes.

It was soon played and I think even Puniavai, Bipinidada, Suryamani bhai played with them. I was a spectator; many villagers from all sahis saw it. I remember one telling, “what is the fun all are standing, one throwing the ball and the other hitting it and then two or three are running, rest are idle”. In one sense he was correct as in soccer all the 22 players are active all the time where as in cricket only 13 are on the field at a particular time. Rest 9 are sitting for there turn. Out of the 13 only three or four are active with each ball.

Before start of the game the city guys trained the country guys the entire rule. The most important training was what is a bowling and what is a throw. One stood as an umpire I can`t recollect his name.Television came to Indian public in 1982 with Delhi ASIAD. It became rural craze only after Ramananda Sagar`s Ramayan was telecasted in mid 80s. So none of us imagined how cricket is played.

  It was not interesting to any one and could not replace football or volleyball for next five years. After 1983 people talked about cricket more and more and everywhere it started dominating. One hour`s post school football or volleyball was enough exercise for the boy and enough practice for the game. But one hour`s cricket is neither adequate for the boy`s need for exercise nor it is adequate for learning the game of cricket. However it touched the imagination of people as India became the champion and there was every chance in each of the world cups India had a chance. This is because only a few countries play it. We can never achieve even the 100^th position in football or volleyball. The craze increased in 1985 when India won another big tournament in Australia where Ravi Shastri became champion of champions and the car he was prized was much discussed. Then the three consecutive centuries by Mohamad Azharuddin. 

 Moreever it was marketed too well by BCCI and match fixers.

As regards to other games India and Pakistan were power centers of Hockey and our national game suffered the most. Our villagers of course did not play hockey at any time. The youth of 1970s also played Badminton with good standard. Our chess players were fine. Middle aged persons like Late Sri Ananda Chandra Mohanty liked to play with kids like us and we learnt so many tactics from him. Our carom was too strong. I have heard my elder brother Kartikvai, when with white was taking all dots including the queen when he started. Opponent not getting any chance. I had not seen it as when I was able to know carom he was playing with his weak left hand voluntarily. Once I asked him about it. He answered it happened a few time but by chance. Verify the fact asking him or his friends.

Cricket was very new in the village, once I remember Hriada was in first slip, he caught a ball very low almost just as it came from the face of the bat diving forward with great control of body rolling with an action even now I am visualizing, which was far better than international standard. It is true for that catch only I developed liking Cricket. In Cricket the faculty of fielding gives me more pleasure to see as it comes unexpected and one`s sporting reflex is the master of the situation that no coach can provide. So to me the all time best cricketer in the world is Jhonty Rhodes.

I remember people were playing the PASHA (YUDHISTHIRA AND DURYODHAN PLAYED IN MOHAVARAT) in our village in 1970s mostly people around Madan Mohan badi.

The concluding remark is many a time I saw a group of women played that game of Pasha with tremendous passion. (mostly near Athayadada the present vice chairman`s house). Our women were at par if not on field but at least off field games. Girls were swimming in majestic Kastura pond and the Nuagadia.

If you are interested please ask Bishianana to show old Panjika of 1978, find out the day of prathamastami  to get the exact date of DAWN OF CRICKET in Tulati. Also ask some elders to know who stood as the umpire in the first game.

A bad friend and a good enemy, in support of Mr Prime Minister.

I suppose, ‘the honeymoon is over’ sign was placed with the Barack Obama`s adverse statements concluding his Indian visit and it is really over with Mr Kejriwal`s punch on the door of the people in merry making.

Our prime minister probably thought ignoring Russia the trusted ally and revisiting our foreign policy too often and too soon would give something different to the nation as a gain. China, Japan, USA and what not of course Russia at last. 

He wanted to prove something ensuring the visit of USA president, like a local party worker cherishes a photograph with the party president and feels elevated. I do not feel Indian Prime minister at such low but the course of events exposed it like that. As if the air direction was to be changed, the sea was told to stop roaring His Highness is coming. When our dignitaries go there what happens to comply their norm all know. If he came to India, we worked as per their protocol. I do not know the details but it seemed like that. That also nobody did mind as our culture says, “Atithi Debah Bhabah.” Honestly our slave like mindset that developed during British Raj is not yet over and the writer here also was having a sense of pride as if our PM is great to invite Demigod to our land. It became a common sense to feel our PM has become a personal friend of Mr Obama.

 This country`s inadequacy to comply the USA norm became exposed. I mean to say as if a threat of cancellation was there if this or that norm was not standardized. Even question was raised about making Delhi a no flying zone that successfully was avoided to keep our IZAT, it was praise worthy but not adequate.

 Yes, ‘Atithi was treated as God’ was the balm for the trauma to our sense of pride.

He went to Rajghat and wrote the beautiful lines, “What Dr Martin Luthar King Jr said then remains true today – ‘the spirit of Gandhi is very much alive in India today and it remains a great gift to the world’. May we always live in this spirit of love and peace – among all people and nations.” Barack Obama.

 

How within days he somersaulted from his own version, saying the religious intolerance in India is too much and even Gandhi must have sensed pain if he is present. Many slavery minded leaders have pocketed this statement with pleasure to use against our Prime Minister.

It is true a portion of the party in power has a fanatic and fascist minded group as support base but they do not represent India. He was not stating against BJP or Narendra Modi. He was giving derogatory statement against Indian race and it`s prime minister.

Whom to blame? For whom we secular and progressive minded Indians are taunted by a foreigner considered the most powerful in the world.

 Our leaders went on stating many odds in the name of religion, Hindutwa, Musalmanhood, procure more children with religious demographic goal, Godshe busts and who else should Godshe had fired and so on, too nauseating statements. Imagine the condition of a premier whose ranks and files behave as outfits not as political people.

 He must be confused to calculate whether the dreaming youth for ACHHADIN, rozgar, vikas and proud Varatiyata is his constituency or the anti minority and in a sense intoxicated nationalist is his constituency.

 The former group was upbeat with USA pres`s visit who are now disappointed. The latter group work on divisive agenda and for them USA pres is simply not a Hindu with no Vedic knowledge where as truly all knowledge evolved in India within the Vedas. You tell anything they tell it was in Veda. May be the highest philosophy was never possible without a matching civilization. Learn from it do not feel as slaves but more importantly do not use it as material evidence in quarrels. Veda is knowledge and knowledge is bound to evolve each and every day somewhere in the world. No need telling we were liberal we gave it to Pythagoras or x y z. Knowledge is bound to spread to worthy brains.

But my point is why did Mr President USA utter it just concluding the visit? Did he not know contemporary India and who the people are in power, did USA perception kept India as a sacred cow and coming here he became aware of the fighting Bull of Lord Shiva after drinking the water of Ganges or felt sorry for the soul of Mohatma.

His kick was too unjust,

 It was bad for our country, our PM, and people of all religions. This writer always felt hurt for riots anywhere in the country that is our problem. Beyond temporary frenzy the inter religious communications and dependency is too strong and very healthy.

He also did not do well as a guest; our Indian attitude is to speak high of the host. Why did he come at all, he could have declined in a polite manner. Those anti Narendra Modi Indian leaders put USA president`s statement as the ultimate gospel are as irritating as Obama`s statement.

So to conclude, it was a drama that Mr Obama enacted as their foreign policy to give a kick to Indians to expose at what place USA keeps us, maybe it was unnecessary extravaganza to stage their play on our platform.

How our PM has taken this blow I do not know but I feel Obama betrayed one of the great Indian leaders of recent times.

Now about the punch of Aravind Kejriwala- this writer takes much interest in politics since he was ten only. Always wanted clean politics beyond the formula divide and engulf the big piece to win. Not a single leader in our era (post JP) had any personal influence on common man before AK. Indians openly told a leader who can bring a lot of work/ business/job and that will be exploited by all to do some fair earning and who cares some black money too is a good leader. No one imagined one can be a leader telling to stop all these corrupt process. In this regard he and his party are different from all other parties.

 He in a revolutionary course of action took some decisions those were never seen before and all did not look convincing. He went on taking names of institution after institution like police, media, govt servants and so on which looked too abusive. Many a time I argued in my friend circle and with some AAP members too.

 What I observed the common people hitherto unrelated to politics and never had any chance to come to the street started campaigning on roads, which was the healthiest sign to me. I am not talking about the people who came for fortune exploration and returned as the first tide was gone, I say about the retired army man, an IIT educated man leaving lucrative job to run with him not sure of a future, the neutral man suffocated with the pollution in politics, these people were seen there. I loved it.

 I questioned myself, am I honest or pretending to be honest? Have I the credibility to criticize a man who has every chance to bring to Indian politics what the common man like me deserves.

I found out the areas where I am not fully honest and discarded all these. I mean this man who is a year younger to me could brought a change in me like a Satsanga does. I am not talking too much. I became happy to lose my income quiet a good amount which to many may say honest money. It in earlier days seemed honesty to me even. I introspected me to develop me as a real human qualified to criticize Aravind Kejriwal. May be I am too emotional but it did not happen after Delhi victory.

 Because of this man I am a better man. So he is my leader.

This Delhi result is not against NaMo it is 100% pro Kejerwal and anti milittant Hindutwa, and arrogancy. Yes many people will blame NaMO, more so from his own house packed with hard liners and to some extent from outsiders. But it was necessary to teach people propagating hate and divisive tactics. This tactis defying human dignity may not succeed in future as this fire started at Delhi may spread too quick.

Hope the honeymoon is over and nation building starts in cooperation from the CM of the national capital.

The party in power should go beyond a few words like, “minority appeasement, pseudo secularism, Hindu nationalism, Love Jihad, Hindu breeding more, Godsebad, ghost fight between Nehruji and Patelji, confining Gandhiji with cleaning toilet only and so on.”

This writer opposes the party but finds a lot of merit in its leadership so feel him as the brother of the nation.

So the future direct political fight is between a brother of the race versus a son of the race. It would have been better in the year of woman empowerment if the sisters own.

This is the land where Ratnakar changed to Valmiki, an Akbar the great was possible in a family that attacked and conquered India, a Chandashoka changed to a Dharmashoka. Everything is possible and unjust attitude of any party may be discarded in national interest,

 I am telling it not without invitation, remember the victory speech of Mr PM, Sarkar chalanekeliye majority chahie, Desh chalaneke lie har kohi chahie, Am I not a har kohi? yes with that invitation I am suggesting to Deshka Pradhan Sevak. Thank you all.

Good morning it's a 2005 incident. Fact....A lanky man may be thirtyfive years old came with a girl of sixteen or seventeen. He waited till all other patients finished their consultation positioning themselves at a spot within my vision through window.

 At last the duo approached me. “Sir please examine her and opine whether she is fit to be a mother or not?” He asked. He was not an illiterate man. He approached in a polite way.

 The girl had no reaction except some anxiety not denial, just like a twelfth standard student appearing an entrance examination. One wanted it but feared it and loved it with a hope to pass it. Here she was to be the real specimen of examination though.

The man unfolded himself.

 He married the elder sister seven years back, staying together, with no issue and issues. What to do other than marry again? Under family pressure he wanted so he stated. To this his in law family suggested to give their second daughter to save the first being deserted. The man's family wanted the other girl to prove her fertility first. (Means before marriage) The man was extra cautious and wanted a prior medical examination. May be in one sense he wanted why should he take the load and use a girl if she's not use worthy as per his level of thinking.

 I was taken aback. As a gynaecologist I imagined from the angle of the girl who remembered being a good daughter being a saviour sister, but but but!!!

 How friends you react here?

I was totally shocked and reaction less rather fell short to react.

I suggested without a pinch of emotion, " Man, King Dasharatha had three queens and Ramayana says all became pregnant after taking charruanna, may be actually he himself had some problem and he took charruanna that solved the problem."

 I am not sure that I did justice to the situation and was not in a position to inform police or follow it up. It churns me till date. I think can never ever get the true answer. I saved me, explaining them; this was legally and ethically not possible to examine the girl. I hope the man must have visited the next gynaecologist or andrologist but with his wife not sister in law.

 A fact can be more sensitive than a fiction. We are celebrating year of woman empowerment, and here was a tragic story even if there was not a single villain as they all represented as if they were sane and rational. Pointing finger to others is easy putting house in order may be ….
